CnC Tiberium Wars..Vista 64

Been looking around, and seems quite a few people are having issues with some the CnC games, CnC3, and RA3 mainly. Most threads on varying forums I stumble across, never seem to have a answer, and the ones Ive seen here, are still being replied to here or there, so figured I'd ask myself, even though I know yall are probly getting tired of Vista64 regarding CnC games.

Oh, and I apologize in advance if I didn't post in the right area.

Anywho, on to the issue at hand.

I recently upgraded my computer, more RAM, better Processor, better Vid card, etc.. since I'm a pretty avid gamer in my time off from work, That said, the old comp ran CnC3, and Ra3 seamlessly, with only minor hiccups here or there(sluggy gameplay, but was pretty rare). This new system, has Vista64, which, the parental figure, swears up and down is the way to go...But, enough of that.

Seems most of you folks ask for system specs, so I did the Test for mine, and here are the results.

CPU
Minimum: Intel Pentium 4 or greater, AMD Athlon 2200+ or greater or Multiple Cores required for Vista
You Have: 2 processors running - Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo CPU E7400 @ 2.80GHz PASS
CPU Speed
Minimum: Pentium 2.2 GHz or Athlon 2200+ or better for Vista
You Have: 2.80 GHz Performance Rated at 7.35 GHz PASS
System RAM
Minimum: 1 GB
You Have: 4.0 GB PASS
Operating System
Minimum: Windows XP
You Have: Microsoft Windows Vista Business Edition, 64-bit (Build Service Pack 16001) PASS
Video Card
Minimum: With Vista, 128 MB DirectX 9.0c compatible video card (NVIDIA GeForce 6100 or greater; ATI Radeon 9500 or greater. Laptop versions of these chipsets may work but are not supported.)
You Have: ATI Radeon HD 4800 Series () PASS
Video Card Features - Minimum attributes of your Video Card Video RAM: Required - 128 MB , You have - 3.7 GB
Video Card 3D Acceleration: Required - Yes , You have - Yes
Vertex Shader Ver.: Required - 2.0 , You have - 4.0
Pixel Shader Ver.: Required - 2.0 , You have - 4.0

DirectX Version
Minimum: DirectX 9.0c is included on this disc and may require the latest drivers for your video and sound card.
You Have: 10.0 PASS
Sound Card
Minimum: Yes
You Have: Headset Earphone (Logitech USB PASS
Sound Card Driver Version
Your driver version number is: 16.19 FYI: Your sound card driver version is provided for your information, but it is not part of this analysis. But proper sound card driver versions are important to the proper operation of your product.
Free Disk Space
Minimum: 6 GB
You Have: 502.2 GB PASS
DVD
Minimum: 8X speed DVD-ROM (This game contains technology intended to prevent copying that may conflict with some CD-RW, DVD-ROM, DVD-RW and virtual drives. DVD-ROM drive not needed for EA Link version of the game.)
You Have: SONY DVD RW DRU-830A ATA Device PASS, but the Speed could NOT be analyzed.

Verdict: Should have a great time playing.

While installing, I get the following error.

Error 1305. Error reading from file D:\programfiles\Electronic Arts\Command & Conquer 3\Movies\Movies 1.0\Movies big. Verify that the file exists and that you can access it.

I'm pretty bummed currently, I loved CnC3 and RA3, and was pretty stoked at how flawless they would play on the new system, and then this issue arrives. Havent been able to try RA3 yet, since, seems my little nephew got a hold of the CD and have been unable to locate it, so will probly have to end up buying another, assuming it would work too. Who knows.

And sorry for the book, I ramble sometimes. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hello Razorcell, and welcome to TSF.

It seems that there was an error during the installation proccess.

Please download Revo Uninstaller from my signature, and use it to uninstall CnC3, and reinstall it.

Revo uninstaller will delete all the saved data, registry data, and the game all together, to ensure a fresh new reinstall.

Try this out and let me know the results.

Re: CnC Tiberium Wars..Vista 64

I downloaded Revo, but then thought of something that is gonna pose a problem.

I havent been able to install the game at all, due to the error, Once I get the error, and retry a time or two, only thing I can do is cancel the installation, at which no files are changed. Therefore, Revo has nothing to delete regarding CnC3.

EDIT: Gonna call it a night, work comes early enough as is, will check back when I get off, to see what else might be an issue, if anyone has anymore ideas.

Re: CnC Tiberium Wars..Vista 64

Ok, sorry for the slow reply, just got home from work.

Power Supply is a 430 wat, Therma(something), name escapes me. Same as my last one though, just a newer one.

Motherboard...All I can say is, the Box says:
Gigabyte, Ultra Durable 3 Motherboard DDR2 1366+ EP45-UD3R. 1600 MHz.

Processor...Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo CPU E7400 @ 2.80GHz

4 Gigs of DDR2 on motherboard, with an additional 2 Gigs on my Video Card

For the Video Card..All I can say is ATI Radeon HD 4800 Series

Harddrive is a 650 Gig IDE, can't recall which brand.

OS is Vista64.

I apologize for not knowing the exact specifications. My stepdad ordered this stuff by what I could afford.

-----------------

As far as the "Try these steps"

I did the System Requirements Lab, and according to it, my system should run the game extremely smooth.

I've restarted, since I've had a few windows updates since then.

Don't have anything running in the background that isnt needed, even have my firewall turned off at the moment.

DirectX is up to date.

Video and Sound Drives are up to date.

As far the as the patches..I can't download any patches for a game which I don't have installed, can I? Not real sure on that one.

CD for the game is in relatively pristine condition, kept it in the case when it wasnt being used, so it has no scratches.

I've tried installing the game multiple times, all with the same Error towards the end of the copying/installing progress bar.

That said...think this was everything yall asked for.

Re: CnC Tiberium Wars..Vista 64

Your PSU is far too small to be running your gear on.

You need something like this:

Corsair 750W
Cost: ~$100 (after rebate)

Re: CnC Tiberium Wars..Vista 64

Going by what you said that your video card has 2 extra gigs, that is not the case. Usually what you see for the video card is the dedicated Vram plus the virtual ram.

You should be running this PSU as your is sorely under powered at the moment. The last thing I want to see on TSF is that "my PSU blew up".

Corsair 750w
$120
after rebate $100

I want to know the exact make of the video card so if you can find a receipt of the computer then I will make sure if you do buy a new PSU (which you really should) that its the correct one to get for your system.

Ok, now on to getting the game installed. I would try copying the contents of the DVD onto your hard drive and finding the setup.exe. Do this to the setup.exe

right click on it
properties
compatibility (tab)
run as XP Sp2
run as administrator.

Re: CnC Tiberium Wars..Vista 64

Will look into the Exact make of the Video Card, gonna have to ask my stepdad on that one. And yea, I know the PSU is too small for what I have, but, a little tight on money(After we ordered the computer parts, had to pay my Truck payment and my Cell, so currently have about $100 to last till next paycheck lol). I'm gonna get a better PSU, but just gotta get the money worked up again before I do.

Tried the setup.exe thing, was already set on xp sp2, but did run as admin, still got the same error.

Error 1305. Error reading from file D:\programfiles\Electronic Arts\Command & Conquer 3\Movies\Movies 1.0\Movies big. Verify that the file exists and that you can access it.

Did you copy all the files to your HDD? Can you try doing this too? After you copy the game to your hard drive right click on the folder

-properties
-security (tab)
-edit
allow full control for all users

Also, until you get your new PSU, try to play less stressful games to avoid damaging your system.

Re: CnC Tiberium Wars..Vista 64

Sorry for the delayed response..work has been hectic. Tried copying to my hardrive, didnt work, even tried changing the destination between D and C(was set on D). Now, I'm not 100% tech savy with this vista stuff, but, just to make sure I did copy to my hardrive right, someone post how? I may have done it wrong.

Re: CnC Tiberium Wars..Vista 64

Welcome back.

First of all, did you get that new PSU? It is very important that you get a better one.

Secondly, to get the contents of the DVD on to your Hard Drive;

Insert the DVD
Right click the DVD Drive and click "Explore"
Copy all the files to a hard drive with free space.

Once they are there, do the things Mcninjaguy said to.
