Flash Game Problem
I've posted in several forums looking for answers and have yet to receive a response. I've had this problem for over a year and I've yet to figure out the cause.
My problem: I have lag in flash games whenever I input a command (ie - push a key to do something in a game). The lag is a delay in the graphic update after inputing a command (ie - moving left in a game takes a second and then appears to "jump"...aka it's not smooth animation). I've had this problem since I got my computer. Here's all the specs and software I'm using: Mobile Core 2 Duo T7600G @ 2.33ghz Nvidia Geforce Go 7950GTX Driver Version: 7.15.11.8520 4 gigs PC-5300 DDR2 memory Windows Vista Ultimate SP1 all latest updates Firefox version 3.5.1 Flash Version 10.0.22.87 I've done a fresh install of OS, Firefox, and Flash. All BIOS are update to date. I monitor CPU usage while playing flash games and the firefox process (firefox.exe) uses about 30% of the CPU so the game isn't exactly a workout for my computer. The games (or videos) runs like silk as long as I'm not imputing commands (ie playing the game). I've monitored CPU rating to insure CPU is not running at a reduced power mode during tests. I defrag my HD regularly and update all other drivers as necessary. All anti-virus (avast) and anti-spyware (ad-aware and spybot) programs are up to date and scanning my computer regularly. I've set them on active and passive to test if they were the problem but they are surely not interferring (trust me I've tested extensively). In conclusion: my computer work 100% great except for this problem and I have no idea what's wrong. I'm convinced it's just 1 setting that needs to be tweaked but I've yet to come across that tweak. Also, this problem happens in ALL flash games no matter how detailed or simple they are. My girlfriend's computer which is considerably worse than mine can run most of the flash games my computer lags on. I've yet to figure out why as we're both using the same OS, same browser and version, and same flash plug-in version. The only thing I can think of is my nvidia drivers but I've updated my video drivers a few times and every time the problem remained the same (yes, I uninstalled the old drivers before installing and used a drive cleaning program and so forth as might be suggested). I've read through a lot of different forum sites with people asking this same question and I've yet to see a response to this seemingly simple problem. What is going on here? Any help is appreciated, thanks. |

Re: Flash Game Problem
Hello Rioisk, welcome to TSF.
Have you tried running these flash games on the lastest version of Internet Explorer? I've seen cases where Firefox and Flash scripts do not get along, but is rare. Your system can easily handle these flash scripts, and with your Graphic Card Drivers and Firefox up to date i can't imagine why it will not work. Anyways test it out with IE and let me know. **Also what type of internet connection do you have?

Re: Flash Game Problem
Hey Cdx and thank you for the welcome.
Yes, I have tried multiple browsers including IE, Opera, and Chrome (all latest versions). I forgot to mention that in my original post. I run into the same problem no matter what browser I am using. I have Verizon 3meg DSL service that averages around 350kb/s down and 50kb/s up. When I download flash games and run them locally I don't have a problem. That narrows it down to internet connection, browser, and flash plug-in, but I can't figure out what's going wrong. Thanks for your help. |

Re: Flash Game Problem
Hello rioisk
![]() What kind of keyboard are you using? Can you try another keyboard? Some of the multi-media keyboards are jacked! Can you spare $10-15 and go to Radio Shack, or the like of, and get a cheap-o? You could always return it if it isn't the problem. Labtec has several keyboards that are like $9.95 - $14.95, PS2 and USB.

Re: Flash Game Problem
Hey all, thanks for the responses.
I should have included this in the beginning but I do have Adobe Shockwave Player version 11.5.0.600 (latest version on adobe website). I've un-installed and re-installed it to be certain. Same problem. This computer is a laptop so I've used the built in keyboard along with several external keyboards including one very similar to the one you've suggested. No difference. I'm going to re-iterate that I have absolutely 0 problems with my computer other than flash games delaying graphically upon input (if a game utilizes the mouse then it also lags). I don't experience this problem with anything else. It's very strange. I'll keep messing with things but I'm running out of ideas @_@. Thanks for all your help. |

Re: Flash Game Problem
Sven2157,
Make: Dell XPS M1710 Model: MXG061 I'm aware Dell shoves a lot of useless software in. Although I've reformatted before I ended up using the recovery CD that Dell provides so all their crap probably ended back on my hard drive. Thanks for the help! |

Re: Flash Game Problem
Sorry for not responding earlier. This would be a better keyboard to test with but with the old one I highly recommend you do not use the drivers for the keyboard and just let Vista or in my case Windows 7 control it.
Logitech Classic Black 104 Normal Keys USB Standard Keyboard 200 If you want you can take a couple screenshots of your installed programs list and upload it here. Use this to take a screenshot. Start menu type "snipping tool" then highlight the area you want to capture and save it. |
