Frequent Performance Drops
Frequently, when playing games, my performance will drop significantly with my FPS going from 30-40 to around 10-20, sometimes worse. It only lasts at most 1-2 minutes but usually around 30 seconds, and will only occur every 2-5 minutes or so.
I have tried all of the following things, to no avail:
Even decreasing the settings to the point where I get solid 70 FPS, I still got these drops. Also, the drops happen despite what is occurring during the game. Getting a little frustrated because the system I have was made to be a gaming PC, and the performance drops make the games almost unplayable in certain situations. |

Re: Frequent Performance Drops
i would say that it is ether a power of a heat problem
judging from your gpu id say its a laptop and thus not a power problem try putting the laptop on a cool hard surface while you play and see if it makes a difference

Re: Frequent Performance Drops
Hello Wymorn.
Welcome to TSF. Sometimes dust will clog in your graphics card fan, causing it to overheat and create lag spikes or FPS drops. Turn your laptop over, make sure it is off and unplugged from the wall. Unscrew the graphic card hatch, i believe you should be able to use compressed air or blow into the fan and clear the dust out. This fixed a similar problem for a desktop computer, maybe this is your problem. Try it and post the results. Thanks! |
