Graphical pop-ups in games
I can run all new games on high/very high and high resolutions with steady 50fps, but I have a problem: When I go through a level in a shooter game for example, small things like trees/bushes become clearer when i egt closer too them, small details on a tree pops up suddenly. Is this because my graphics card isn't good enough? Still I can run CoJ Bound in Blood maxed out 1900x1200 w/ 50 fps.
I hope you understand what I mean here. Some specs: - 4 processors running - Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Quad CPU Q9400 @ 2.66GHz - 2.67 GHz Performance Rated at 7.80 GHz - Microsoft Windows Vista Home Premium Edition, 32-bit (Build Service Pack 16001) - 4.0 GB RAM - Nvidia Geforce 9800 GT - 1.7 GB video RAM - Pixel Shader 4.0 One more thing: It says I have Directx10 installed but my driver version is 8.15.11.8585. What does this mean? Thanks in advance. |

Re: Graphical pop-ups in games
Pretty much in every newer game as I get closer to small objects. For example the crabs at the beach in Crysis, cactuses in Call of Juarez Bound in Blood etc.

Re: Graphical pop-ups in games
Well, just to be sure try installing the latest DirectX Runtimes from Microsoft and get the latest nVIDIA driver from their page.
About the versions, it means you have Dx10 and that your video driver version is that other one. Those are two different version things. Nevertheless, it appears to me as if either there's not enough power for the Video Card, or it's defective/overheating. If you're overclocking anything, try putting it all back on stock speeds. |

Re: Graphical pop-ups in games
Make sure you have the latest Nvidia Drivers, located here:
http://www.techsupportforum.com/641062-post1.html And make sure you have the latest DirectX, located here: http://www.microsoft.com/windows/directx/default.mspx If neither of those help, download Everest from here: http://www.majorgeeks.com/download4181.html And SensorsView from here: http://www.stvsoft.com/SensorsViewPro21Setup.exe Use them to record your Temperatures and the voltages on your PSU - then post them here.

Re: Graphical pop-ups in games
SensorsView appears to be not functioning properly with temperatures on your computer. - That happens sometimes.
What does Everest say? Aside from that, your +3.3V is outside the +/- 5% range. You should get a new PSU. You should view the information located here for choosing a new PSU: http://www.techsupportforum.com/hardware-support/ram-power-supply-support/192217-power-supply-information-selection.html You should choose a PSU in the "High End Power-Gaming Class"

Re: Graphical pop-ups in games
BTW, I tried putting the graphics down to medium and then to low, changed resolutions etc... still i have the popup problem.
EDIT - the PC was bought maybe 4-5 months ago, it has been like this since then...pershaps it is a product fault?

Re: Graphical pop-ups in games
Your Temperatures in Everest are located under "Computer -> Sensor"
And the size of the PSU is only half of what you need to worry about with PSU's. The voltages on the +3.3V +5V and +12V are very important, and if they are over or under, can and will damage your system over time.

Re: Graphical pop-ups in games
I wouldn't worry too much about the +3.3V reading. Software monitors like SensorsView and Everest are never 100% accurate, and it's only the +12V output that really matters on modern computers.

Download the latest graphics driver (v186.18) from here and save it to your desktop. Don't install it yet. Uninstall your current graphics driver (Start > Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs), then reboot into VGA/Safe mode (keep tapping the F8 key after switching on until the menu appears, select VGA mode or safe mode and continue). When Windows has loaded, disable your antivirus to prevent conflicts, then install the new graphics driver and reboot again to complete the installation process. Go to Start > Run > dxdiag > Display tab and run the 2 tests. If there are any problems, they will be listed in the Notes box at the bottom of the window.

Re: Graphical pop-ups in games
'nvidia drivers' is the one you need to remove. If there are any others with nvidia in the title, they'll be the motherboard chipset drivers or physX, so don't do anything with them.
