Problem with Empire Earth 11

I bought my young grandson the Empire Earth 11 PC game to play while he was on school holidays. I have the first Empire Earth game, there is no problem with that play. jsut the Empire Earth 11 game.
Can someone please help, he is so disapointed that he can't play it.

I have XP home, I tried formatting the computer and re-installeing Windows XP, went through all the updates etc, still not working. Any help greatly appreciated.

I get this error message when he tries to play the game, I have tried the DEBUG, nothing, I have tried the REPAIR option, still nothing.

whats your configuration?

have you tried re installing the game? Sometimes it is possible that the installation can corrupt during installation process. This is just a possibility, not the solution.

Hi CDX - I have re-installed the game three times now, the last time was after I re-installed Windows XP today. I have another computer that I use, the game plays fine on this one, just not on the one I have for my grandson.

When you say Empire Earth 11, do you mean Empire Earth II? - As in Empire Earth 2?

Hi Lord Sirian - sorry it took me so long to get back to you. You are of course right, it is Empire Earth 2, no matter how I try, I can't get the 11 to look the way yours does!

I have added my system info, hopefully I have it all right.

Hi ellnic.
I beleieve the problem is due to your ATI Rage128 Pro. That graphics chipset does not support Hardware Transform and Lighting or Pixel Shaders which are both required for the game to run.
If you look in the readme you should see something along the lines of this:

- 1.5 GHz Intel(R) Pentium(R) 3 or AMD(R) Athlon(TM) processor or equivalent
- 256 MB RAM
- 1.5 GB of uncompressed hard disk space for game files
- DirectX(R) 9.0c (included)
- DirectX(R)-compatible sound card and speakers or headphones
- 4X CD-ROM drive
- Microsoft(R) compatible mouse and keyboard

Your other computer probably has newer hardware so it has no problem running on it.
Unfortunately the only way around this is to upgrade the computer with newer hardware.

Thank you both for your input, I shall have to investigate the new hardware.

I did find by putting two capitiol i's it looked right, silly of me to assume it would be two ones to make a two!

Since you have an Intel system, the Intel 82865 Graphics Controller is one graphics card that should work. I use it with XP Home Edition and it works great for most games.

In future, I will check out the game requirements before I buy them.
