Thumbs Up Graphics card issues Championship Manager 08

Hi friends,

Just a newbie. Hope you all well.
My problem is with Championship Manager 2008 PC Game.

The error message that comes up after the initial movie sequence of CM08 is:

Direct3D failed to initialize - please ensure that you have a Direct3D compatible card

I can run Fifa 08 in all high settings except for this game!

Here is a report of my DX Diag

Re: Graphics card issues Championship Manager 08

Take side cover off of case, power supply is at the top with a fan
pointing toward the rear. The name and brand should be printed on the
side of the psu, along with the specs.

Re: Graphics card issues Championship Manager 08

Found this on another forum:
Quote:
2.3 Crashes and Lock-Ups

When I start Championship Manager 2008, my mouse cursor disappears and my computer locks-up.

Chances are your installed audio card drivers are not compatible with DirectX. The only solution is to get a DirectX 9.0c -compatible driver from your audio card manufacturer.

When I start Championship Manager 2008, I receive the following error message:

"The application Championship Manager 2008.exe referenced memory at address xxxx:xxxx that can't be read from."

Its likely that your installed video card drivers are not compatible with DirectX 9.0c. The only solution is to get a DirectX 9.0c -compatible driver from your video card manufacturer.

Championship Manager 2008 is crashing to the desktop with no error messages.

This problem can be caused by several different things. Here's a list of the most common culprits associated with these crashes:

* Make sure the DVD-ROM is clean (check for both scratches and smudges on the reading surface of the DVD).

* Make sure the game has been installed properly.

* Make sure DirectX 9.0c has been installed properly.

* Make sure you have the latest drivers for your video card and that they are DirectX 9.0c -compatible.

* Make sure you have the latest drivers for your sound card and that they are DirectX 9.0c -compatible.

* Make sure Virtual Memory is enabled on your system.

* Run Disk Defragmenter.

* Try exiting the game, rebooting your machine, and re-entering the game.

Note: If your system crashes to the desktop while playing Championship Manager 2008, you should probably reboot your computer before starting a new play session. Otherwise, DirectDraw or DirectSound may be in a locked state, and the game will be unable to use your sound or video hardware.

Re: Graphics card issues Championship Manager 08

I dont wish to be a buzz kill, but you should also be in the market for
a new power supply. You need 26amps on the 12volt rail/rails to run
a pci-e video card properly..

Re: Graphics card issues Championship Manager 08

You'd be surprised how much trouble a cheap PSU can give people.
You should be looking for a Corsair 700 W or so, but the BRAND counts! So when I say "Corsair" I mean that specifically!

Also, check to see if there is any dust in the card and remove it.
There's an off chance you may have to reinstall Windows, but first try reinstalling the game with Revo Uninstaller.

Re: Graphics card issues Championship Manager 08

The reason we don't recommend CCleaner for uninstalling programs is because all that does is launch the program's normal uninstaller, what Revo Uninstaller does is remove all registry entires and other thing tied to that program.
