Driver error with Beavis & Butthead: Virtual Stupidity
I'm trying to run the 1996 game Beavis and Butthead: Virtual Stupidity, but I can't get it to work. At first when I launched the .exe file, the sound would play, but the video would not, and it told me I needed a divx encoder. I've since tried two different divx encoders, but now I get an error message saying:
MCI ERROR There is a problem with the device driver. Check with the device manufacturer about obtaining a new driver. I've tried launching it in different compatibility modes (95, 98, 2000), but I get the same problem. My soundcard is the Reatlek AC97 Audio, and the driver is ALCXWDM.SYS, version 5.10.0000.6160. Any help would be much appreciated, thanks. |

Re: Driver error with Beavis & Butthead: Virtual Stupidity
I installed default version of the pack, but still no luck. Do I need to configure it specifically for the program, or something to that effect?

Re: Driver error with Beavis & Butthead: Virtual Stupidity
Tried it in XP and in DOSBox, still the same problem.
The weird thing is, the mini-games, which can be accessed separately, work in XP without changing their compatibility to Windows 95, but the core game file is still giving me these codec issues. Last edited by A-Thousand-Lies; 05-27-2009 at 11:43 PM. |

Re: Driver error with Beavis & Butthead: Virtual Stupidity
are you running the game on a dedicated video card (PCIe or AGP) or on an IGP (intel)
if you are running the game on a dedicated video card try to run the game on your integrated graphic card (Intel)
