DirectX problems with Rome Total War

[SOLVED] DirectX problems with Rome Total War

Alright, I'm having the same R:TW problems on Vista. I played the game for about 3 days fine with no problems what-so-ever. The morning of day 4 I go on to play a few turns and now every time I start playing at some random point (so far at the start of a battle trying to load, moving a diplomat, i.e. random times) the game falls out with a window message saying that "Rome Total War has stopped working. We'll contact you if we find a solution to your problem." I've read everything up to date and I'm a little miffed myself, but my question is:

Do any of the Rome: Total War expansion packs work on Vista? I.E. Barbarian Invasion or Alexander?

Thank you very much for your help.
