playing garrys mod games

i wona buy garrys mod on steam but i wanted to find out if i can still all the games like zombie survival and prop hunt if i only buy garrys mod and team fortress 2

I think those are mods you are talking about, you would be able to play them as long as they are compatible with Garry's Mod and Team Fortress 2.

Zombie Survival may use some CSS models and materials but I am sure garrysmod comes with it. When you join a server, you will download all the neccesary things the server needs you to play. I know this because I play garrysmod.
Garrysmod runs probably if you have at LEAST 1 source game.

well the orange box is what $10 on steam right now

Orange box comes with these games
Half Life 2
Half Life 2 - episode 1
Half Life 2 - episode 2
Team Fortress 2
Portal

its totally worth it to buy the Orange box right now!
once you got those games you'll have more content to play with in Garry's mod

In order for Garrys mod to have other games models/maps/characters (like CSS, HL2 and TF2) you need to own the games and they need to be installed on your system. You only need to own one of those games (Excluding TF2) for Garrys Mod to work.

However Garry's Mod is worth if you like building contraptions and making puzzles it can be pretty addictive.
