Fable-The Lost Chapters "We are sorry..."
Hi all. First of all; I'm sorry. Sorry for bringing up this game again, especially when there are so many threads marked SOLVED. I looked through all, plus extensive internet searches before bothering you all with this one again.
So here's the thing... I'm getting the same message as many: "We are sorry, but we have detected that the game did not exit correctly. We recommend starting the game in safe mode. Safe mode may disable some advanced features of the game, but may allow you to play the game." My son has been playing the game and racked up nearly 15 hours (he's got all nerdy with it) before anything went awry. It took a while, but I worked out if I removed the save file from the Fable folder in My Documents that ended with ".hs" ("Hero Save", I'm guessing) then he didn't lose his save point, and the game started fine again. YAY! The problem is, it's happened again. He told me he didn't save anything on the last play, but the game shut down for no obvious reason. I checked the save folder again, and unsurprisingly the ".hs" file was back. Remove again and fine again, but the question is WHY? What's causing this random shutdown? And why is it saving the glitch? And why did they never release a patch, considering how many people have obviously had trouble with this game? I'll keep working on this (as he absolutely loves the game), but my main reason for starting this thread is I've not seen any reference to the (.hs) save files anywhere on the 'net as a possible fix (especially absent from the MS fix link). XPsp2, ASUS K8V-X, AMD 64 3000+ (32 2000MHz), DDR400 2G, ATI HD3650 AGP DDR2 512MB, M-Audio Delta Audiophile 9624, 350W Antec PSU. |

Re: Fable-The Lost Chapters "We are sorry..."
Hello and welcome to TSF, don't be sorry for anything as we all enjoy helping others to complete satisfaction.
I've played the game for hundreds of hours on multiple systems and have never encounter this problem. Update all drivers, and get Service Pack 3. Is your AMD Processor dual core? You can check if it is by pressing cntrl+alt+del and go to the processes tab, if there are 2 boxes in the CPU usage area then it is. If it's dual core then please download this AMD Dual Core Optimiser http://support.amd.com/us/Pages/dyna...42f&ItemID=153 Also check to make sure your anti-virus or firewall is not blocking the game's save folder If non of those work then re-install the game, as it may be a corrupted install.
