COD4 Help! Lag in SP and MP

I have had the game for a while now and it has been playing fine. Perfect I would say, but all of a sudden, when I launch it it is really laggy. I thought it was my internet connection, but I went to single player and it is the same lag.

I thought it might have been the graphics card, so I played a few other games. Left 4 Dead ran fine, Counter-Strike Source ran fine, Call of Duty: World at War ran fine. So it must be the game.

PC Specs:

AMD Athon x64 Dual Core 3800+ 2.0 ghz (I know processor not that fast)
Geforce 9600 GT
2 GB Ram

In-Game Specs

I use Optimal System Settings.

Hello and welcome to TSF

Did you install any hardware recently? Check for conflicts, press 'Windows Logo' + Pause/Break go to Hardware tab > Device Manager, press all the plus signs and look for an exclamation mark, then double click on it and post what the window says.

Please post all of your system specs and DXDiag report
also update all drivers

Nothing has an exclamation mark and where do I find all of my system specs? How do I update all drivers?

To update all your drivers, go to the manufacturer's website

www.nvidia.com for your video card
www.amd.com for your processor
www.microsoft.com for any windows drivers
www.canyourunit.com can give you accurate estimates as to if you can run a game or not, AND give you system specs.

I see that, but I can't click it. I found it on some other website. It definitely improved the game. But it is still laggy.

first, please post your PSU watts and the amps under the 12V
second, let's see your temps
download speedfan from my sig and check the CPU and Video card temps when Idle and then recheck them when under stress
and post the temps back here
and if that from the game, it could be a corrupted registry entry from the game
download Revo uninstaller from my sig and use it to remove all the game and all it's remaining from the registry and from your hard disk
(if the saved games files are located other than the "My documents folder" please make a backup first or just be careful not to let Revo uninstaller remove them, you can select what to remove and what not to, remove all the registry entry...)
then restart your PC and do a clean install of the game again
try it...

My psu is 550 watts. My CPU temp is 42C and which one is my video card?

I'll try that reinstall thing and give results.
