COD4 graphics issues
Hi, I'm fairly new to computers but i downloaded Catalyst control center and updated my drivers so i can increase my fps on cod4. When i load cod4 and join a server the resolution's is really weird and black and i max 9 fps? I tried uninstalling catalyst but then cod4 wouldn't even load, giving me a error about Direct X error. I've downloaded directX 9 and i think my drivers are up to date.
It says my card is in the ATI Radeon X300/X550/X1050 Series I'm running windows xp. regards Davie. |

Re: COD4 graphics issues
Hi Davie, welcome to TSF
Go here for the legacy drivers for your Radeon X300/X550/X1050 Series running XP. Scroll down to Option 1 and click the Download button. Save the file to your desktop. Go to Start > Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs, and remove all ATI and Catalyst entries. Reboot into VGA or Safe Mode (instructions here), then disable your antivirus and install the new graphics driver. Reboot to complete. When Windows has reloaded again, go to Start > Control Panel > Display > Settings tab and set the resolution and colour options. Then go to Start > Run > dxdiag > Display tab and run the 2 tests. Any problems listed in the Notes box?

Re: COD4 graphics issues
Believe me, i would love to get 46fps avg with my PC. And since you haven't give us your full system spec, how are we supposed to know if 46fps is good for the computer you have...

Re: COD4 graphics issues
anything above 30 FPS is very nice and smooth
most monitors can only support 60FPS and thats all you're going to see. if you get something like 300 FPS you're going to see "screen tearing" since your montor can support that high of a frame rate whats the lowest FPS you get? not concerned about your highest, you have to worry about keeping lowest FPS above 30 |

Re: COD4 graphics issues
ok try this
go to control panel -> sounds and audio devices under speaker settings choose advanced -> performance set the hardware acceleration at basic (move the marker to times to the left) also update your directx to the latest version also specify your sound card manufacturer, did you try to update to the latest drivers? it seems that it is a driver error from your sound card
