Evil All of my games seem to have wired texture glitches crash

Hi This is my first post, The problem is when I play any games for a sertant amout of time it seems to pause then flicher a black screen quickly then go's back in to the game, after that happens the game go's all wired, Like the text would be on the walls textures maps would be on the floor and colors would be all messed up, and some times not all the time when i continue to play like this it will freezes then i have to force a reboot. This problem is very annoying and i can't seem to get my head around a cause of the problem. and what annoys me the most is I just upgraded my pc spent 1 grand on it to make it perform better...

BTW my old 8800 ultra broke so i sent it in and then got a new one 3-4 weeks later

sys-specs:

Gigabyte EP45-EXTREME
Intel Core 2 Quad
2X 2GB Corsair RAM DDR2
Nvidia 8800 ultra with Omega drivers
PSU 750W Thermaltake Toughpower
OnBoard sound

If you would like any more info i would be glade to give

Re: All of my games seem to have wired texture glitches crash

Hi abc212 and welcome to TSF,

Make sure there is no dust build-up in the case and its in a well ventilated area. This problem is most likely related to overheating.
To check you can download Everest from my sig and monitor your temps when you playing your games. Post the temps when your running a game.
To get temps up in Everest go to the menu on the left and go to Computer> Sensors.

ok,
Temperatures:
Motherboard 43 °C (109 °F)
CPU 50 °C (122 °F)
CPU #1 / Core #1 49 °C (120 °F)
CPU #1 / Core #2 42 °C (108 °F)
CPU #1 / Core #3 46 °C (115 °F)
CPU #1 / Core #4 44 °C (111 °F)
North Bridge 39 °C (102 °F)
GPU 51 °C (124 °F)
GPU Diode 58 °C (136 °F)
GPU Memory 51 °C (124 °F)
GPU Ambient 45 °C (113 °F)
Seagate ST3320620AS 38 °C (100 °F)
WDC WD1600JS-55MHB1 33 °C (91 °F)

those are stock temps when i playing games they only go about 5-15% hotter (Crysis, fallout 3-very high settings) and my case is new to i got an antec 1200 gaming (6 fans) case and all cords are out of the way for maximum airflow so i dont think it is over heating. ty for replying

Well 50c idle for that CPU is very high, so if its 15% extra when playing a game thats a problem. So make sure there is no dust buildup over the heatsink and fan of the CPU. You may need to apply new thermal paste if you have had the PC over 1-2years.
But more importantly make sure the heatsink has been attached properly and is touching the CPU.

Re: All of my games seem to have wired texture glitches crash

ok ill make sure the heatsink is attached properly. The hole computer is only about 3-4 months old now, The oldest parts in it are DVD-RW and PSU there both about 1 and half year old now. cpu, case, mb and gcard were bought home on that same day. And i will clean dust filters and make sure there no dust clogging any think.

BTW my room is well ventilated and the computer tower has more then enuth room to breath from back to front.

Re: All of my games seem to have wired texture glitches crash

sorry about the wait, ok i securly and properly put the cpu and heatsink back in and clean all dust filters. I did a stress test and got back some results and taken screen shots of, One with stock temps and voltages another with just cpu stress and the last one being all stressed out, quick question when I perform a stress test should my computer be like gittering/glitching when i move the mouse couser. Also could my PSU be the cause? I've read on alot of forums that all my symptoms are usually because of a dodgy PSU

Need any more info?

also off the topic lol umm how do you put in a custom avatar =P

How did your graphic card has been broken???
Could be damaged PSU...
Maybe graphic card has damaged your PSU...
Otherwise, your PSU is a very good one and this PSU can run your graphic card no problem =)
You should update drivers, or even better choice: reinstall old ones and install new ones...
Stock CPU temperatures are fine, around 35-40C, which is nice...
CPU temperatures under stress are around 68-71C, and I am not sure if this is OK...
Usually, CPU temperature under full load should not get over 60-65C...
But I might be wrong...
Lets wait what the others have to say =)

Keep us posted...

ty for reply, i have tryed many different drivers and it seems to continue beeing buggy and i dont think my old gc broke cause of the PSU, it randomly died when i was playing Counter Strike:Source (all colores went wired and texted all over the place) and i think 71oC might be normal temp if under heavy load (I Think) thanks

Re: All of my games seem to have wired texture glitches crash

anything below 70C is pretty good for a GPU under stress 71 C is fine

you have a nice PSU don't worry about it

I think its your CPU temps they are way too high
what you're looking for is the CPU to be in the low 50C range or lower under stress and and when its idle around 40C or lower

those are what I feel should the high temps should be for the safe cooling of a CPU

you might want to think about getting a aftermarket CPU cooler. It might not fix the overall problem but at least your CPU will be cooler

something like this (make sure it'll fit in your case)

ZALMAN CNPS9700 LED 110mm 2 Ball CPU Cooler
$45

Yes, when a CPU becomes to hot it starts to generate errors in calculations this can cause either the current program to crash or the entire system.

Re: All of my games seem to have wired texture glitches crash

For the new Intel CPUs anything above 55c can cause errors. So even though it may not be a problem directly related to what your experiencing it still is a problem that needs to be fixed becasue continued use of the CPU above 55c will burn it out.

If you think its a memory problem. Click on my sig link to Memtest86, download the CD-Boot version and burn it to a CD. To make sure the test is accurate you will need to test each RAM stick separately, meaning you have to physically remove the other sticks. Each RAM stick can take about 30mins to test.

Your PSU is more than adequate to run your system with plenty of amps to spare. So i dont think thats the problem

I think I know the sloution but you probably won't like it too much...
your graphics card may be damaged and you might need to get a new one....

run ATI tool and see if any artifacts come up
http://www.techpowerup.com/atitool/

I like your PSU but could you download everest (its in AUS Karlos's signature)
and tell us the voltages for your PSU
