glitchy video windows & games etc

Hey, a few days ago i built my own pc and get everything (frivers etc) installed n then run into a problem - the mouse movements are jumpy n glitchy, and videos i try and play are extremely jumpy, freezing every couple of seconds, n games are the same..

i have in it a gigabyte EP45T-UD3LR, intel quad core Q9550, 4gb ddr3 ram, nVidia 9800gt 1gb graphics, 1tb westerd digital hard drive.

i originally thought it was the operating system, but i bought a brand new xp operating system n tried that n still nothing, then tried fideling with the graphics settings but still nothing

if anyone has had this problem or has any suggestions as to how to fix it, it would be greatly appreciated.

Hi mun_boy and welcome to TSF,

Sounds like you have missed your graphical drivers. Make sure they have been properly installed. Use my sig to get the latest Nvidia drivers.

Open up Task Manager and see if there are any processes that are using 100% of your CPU.

Re: glitchy video windows & games etc

This PSU does not have the required wattage or amperage to your run PC. It has barely enough power to run the card by itself. Its stated that the PSU only has 70% efficiency which brings the total output to 550W.
Attempting to run your PC under gaming conditions in its current state could damage hardware components.

To run a 9800GTX you require at least a 800W PSU with 32A on the 12v line (I recommend 850W 12v @ 40A to minimize PSU stress)

I would say runnig a 9800GTX requires at least a corsair 650w
and a corsair 750w is recommended

Re: glitchy video windows & games etc

ita rated at 25C for its full load a good PUS is rated at 50C
it has dual rails with about 30% less amperage than the same wattage PSU by Corsair 650w)

big big difference in quality
never ever buy a cheap PSU and expect any decent performance or reliability

Mind telling us which PSU you have ordered? Was it one of the ones Aus_Karlos recommended?
