I am having the same problem as Rolovel above. Trying to run Far Cry 2. When i first installed the game, (as distributed through Steam) i just set everything on ultra high and loaded a new game. Well, i got about 1 FPS, So i turned everything to "high" (which was the lowest option) and tried running it again. Immediately, i got the "running in a window" error as described above. Even when i let the game load in the window, it just freezes the whole computer. Running same monitor as above, Asus 22". running on Intel e8400 core2 3.0 Ghz OC to 3.8. 2 GB DDR2 800mhz, ATI Radeon HD 4850 x2. Vista 64bit Sp1. Trying to run at 1680 x 1050. All drivers up to date. Monitor and game refresh both rate set to 60. Have already uninstalled and reinstalled game, and double checked drivers. I really want the game to work and i am very tech savvy (built this computer myself) , so any help would be appreciated. Last edited by Indoril Nerevar; 03-29-2009 at 01:23 AM.
