C&C Decade with vista???

I'm pretty new to this so pls forgive me if i do the wrong thing. Am a total technophobe and have just bought new comp with vista. Have installed C&C decade but keep getting "insert correct DVD-Rom in drive" when i try to play the game. This is an original copy (non of ya rotten pirate stuff here thankyou very much). Is this game just not compatable with vista (like TWRome i've just learnt) or am i doing something wrong. Pls keep answers idiot proof and i might have a chance of understanding it lol

Re: C&C Decade with vista???

I could run most of the games form C&C Decade in Vista. Try running it in compatibility mode. Right-click on the desktop icon, go to properties, and the compatibility tab. Then check the box. Try running it in XP first. Also, is it all the games that are not working? Or just a couple?

Re: C&C Decade with vista???

Yes and still "Insert correct DVD-ROM". I think it must be the dvd as i've just tried a no dvd fix and the game works. Bit of a bugger though when you buy the real thing and it needs hacks and fixes to get it to work lol.

Re: C&C Decade with vista???

No. I don't use virtual drives or such like. I really don't use any techi stuff. I really think it is a problem with the dvd. Will lend it to a friend to see if it works on his pc. The fact it works with the fix and that the previous comments state it worked for them (sorry didn't catch the name before posting) suggests to me duff dvd but will keep ya posted. Ps Just like to add how nice it is to come to a forum where people are actually so helpfull and prompt with suggestions without making me feel like the village idiot. Keep it up guys and gals (i'm not worthy)

Re: C&C Decade with vista???

It doesn't work for GZH and a couple of the older ones. Have done some background checks on this myself and there seems to be quite a few people with this problem which kind of makes me feel better that its not just me doin something stupid. The best ref i found is that the dvd security is not being read properly by the drive or something like that (googled C&C ZH & Incorrect dvd in drive). As i said previously, although i shouldn't have to use a no dvd fix, it does do the job. Does that suggest it is either the dvd or the drive at fault as using the fix works????

Re: C&C Decade with vista???

well I don't recommend using a no cd crack and you know the risks of using it.

did you try running all the ".exe's" as admin? for every single game... seems like a pain to do
I think all the older games should run under compatibility mode win 98

Re: C&C Decade with vista???

Yes. I've ran them under admin. I've tried them all out on all compatible versions. Its only 3 that don't work and they all say incorrect dvd in drive. To be honest i only wanted it for zero hour but i'm sure the solution for one will fix all.

Re: C&C Decade with vista???

There are a few steps you can try here.
A few of them are pretty obvious (Verify that the disc is in the drive...) but it's worth giving them a try.

I would recommend removing the crack as well, we don't offer support for cracked games for good reason.

Re: C&C Decade with vista???

I hear what your saying but at the moment the only thing making this game work is the crack. If someone knows how to resolve this issue i would gladly not use it.
