Loading saved profiles in Raptor

Hi all,
I had been playing Raptor v.2 (commercial version) for a couple years, and I took a break from it. When I came back about a year ago, I could create a new name and play, and even save that name, but cannot load any profile. When I try to, it says it has encountered a problem and needs to close.

I am running XP Home Edition, 3.00GHZ CPU, 1.25 GB RAM, and an Intel 82865G video card. I meet all of the system requirements, and for DirectX, it says 5.0 or higher. I am running DirectX 9. I can't remember if I have updated my graphics card, but I don't see how it could be the problem because it had worked for a while, and even works to get into the game and play. It's just the saved profiles that has lost its ability. Also, I don't have the CD (either lost it or never had one), so if I uninstall and I can't reinstall. Does anyone know what the problem is?

Thanks, Jason

Re: Loading saved profiles in Raptor

Thanks for the reply.
The thing I'm worried about, will the uninstall wipe out the saved profiles? There are 10 of them, and I saw in the game's folder 10 .FIL files. I'm not sure if those are them, but should work to copy them to another place, then use the uninstaller?
I've not used that uninstaller before, so I would think because I can't reinstall it anywhere else, it is able to reinstall it?

Re: Loading saved profiles in Raptor

But see, the Revo uninstaller would uninstall it, but there is no option in the game's folder to reinstall. The only place it would be if at all is in the uninstall option of the game. That's why I'm uncertain as to what I would do after uninstalling it with Revo.
Also, because the game is a paid version and has been paid for, I can't get the full version off of their website free.

Re: Loading saved profiles in Raptor

It says if you need to redownload a game you've purchased, to email the support with the name and email used to purchase. I've emailed the support multiple times before, and have not gotten a response. It may be because I have not provided the order name, which I have no way of knowing now. And my dad had bought it several years ago, and I don't think he remembers the order number. So to get another download link doesn't seem possible.

Re: Loading saved profiles in Raptor

By starting a new game do you mean downloading one of the links are starting a new game in the game? It does work to create a new game/profile and play on it, but if I save it, exit to the hangar, then try to load it, that's when it doesn't work.

Re: Loading saved profiles in Raptor

Unfortanatley, the game was bought several years ago and the order number is now unknown. All of the downloads, I think, except for the one under buy, is for 30 days. And MKS did not respond to me, and I'm not sure if that's because I didn't tell them an order number. I have seen under the help that a game could be redownloaded with the order number.

OMGOMGOMG *Squeals Like a girl* it's Raptor! That was my favorite game as a kid and is still my favorite sidescroller!, I have the game on floppy discs!..... Anyway back to topic, I know this is against the rules but, you could try getting a download from the internet.... only because you own the game and don't have the disk.

Other than that your only option is either an emulator, try using dosbox, or buying the game from ebay or craigslist.

Re: Loading saved profiles in Raptor

You're one of only a few people I knew who like and play the game.

I tried running it in Dosbox, and it gave me the message that it cannot be run in Dos mode (this is the Raptor version that came out in '01 or '02.) I wonder if I were to legally buy the game again could I transfer the saved games to the new folder. But then, there's the possibility that it may kick me out again trying to load the saved game.

Sorry I did not know there was a new version (CD version or what?)
You could get a cd key generator? I'd tell you my key, but as I said it is on a floppy disk and they never had any 'key' to use.
