Call of duty trouble

I have call of duty 2 and 4 on my computer and i've had them for a while now and up until recently, they have worked fine. but now every time i open one, the screen flashes like its going to start up but then it stops and says this "program has stopped working-Check online for solutions?-Shut down program?" this is what it says in the problem details.

i know a limited amout about computers so i haven't been able to fix the problem myself. is there anything i can do or am i doomed and need to reinstall? it'd be really nice if i didn't have to cause i don't have the disks any more.

i had the discs, but i think i lost them. actualy i know i lost them cause i can't find them

Does the same thing happen when you run the single player exe? Or is it only affecting the multiplayer side of the game?

well i can't play the single player cause i don't have the disc but the same exact thing happens to cod 2 and 4
