COD 5 WAW problems!!
Okay, initially I had the no audio problem. I read all the threads showing how guys solved the problem, no luck.
The game runs, and I get audio at the CD autorun screen, but once you go into the game, nothing. I'm running the latest 1.3 patch, but I've had the problem with all versions. Now my next problem, I can't uninstall the game!! I was trying to uninstall to try a re-install and I get an error telling me it could not run the windows installer and to contact support. ***?? The game runs fine other than that. And I'm running the latest drivers for my audio card (sigmatel HD integrated card) and the DirectX drivers from the game disc. Anyone got any ideas? |

Re: COD 5 WAW problems!!
hello
try this : go to control panel -> Sounds and Audio device, under speaker settings choose Advanced -> Performance. set the hardware acceleration to BASIC (two steps to the left) now try the game again... about the uninstall issue go to http://catalog.update.microsoft.com and try to download the latest windows installer or just go to windows update and keep your windows updated

Re: COD 5 WAW problems!!
Okay, I've already tried the audio fixes, no luck. I've tried every setting in the device manager for my audio.
Also I'm running windows XP service pack 3, the latest version. And my computer just installed this update yesterday. Thanks. So any other ideas? |

Re: COD 5 WAW problems!!
I don't have that hardware in my device manager.
I only have: Audio Codecs Legacy Audio Drivers Legacy video capture devices Media control devices SigmaTel High Definition Audio Codec Video Codecs Should I disable any of these? If so, how? None of them have a disable option. Thanks. |

Re: COD 5 WAW problems!!
Try this instead.
Go to Control Panel -> Phone and Modem Options -> It may ask for a postcode, enter anything you like -> Modems Tab -> Delete away. Don't do this if you are using any sort of Dialup modem though. Also, try setting your speakers to Desktop Stereo. Control Panel -> Sounds and Audio Devices -> Click 'Advanced' under Speaker Settings. |

Re: COD 5 WAW problems!!
Okay, I actually removed my modem card from the computer. So no more modem. Also my speakers have been setup for Desktop Stereo.
I give up. I'm just going to buy a new audio card and go from there. Thanks guys. |

Re: COD 5 WAW problems!!
Bad news update:
I purchased the Creative X-Fi extremegamer card from newegg.com, took about 1.5 hours to install because I had to install-uninstall-reinstall it about 3 times for it to work properly. Stupid drivers. I downloaded the latest drivers for it from Creative. STILL...NO...SOUND...IN...WAW... ARRRRRRRRRGH!!! Every other aspect of my computer works great. DOW II plays and sounds great. So what I've done now is uninstalled WAW, and I will try to reinstall the game and start from the first version and see if any of them have sound with the new card. Also I tried the device manager trick, all the settings, no luck. Update done. :( |
