[SOLVED] Most of my games wont start.

This problem has been going on for about a week now, and nothing I've tried has fixed anything.

A good amount of my games have stopped starting, just as they start the game they shut down, only half the time with an error report.

The games I've notice not starting are:
  • Dead Space
  • F.E.A.R
  • The Incredibles (meaning it's not graphics issues I expect)
  • The Sims 2
  • Mirrors Edge
  • Fallout 3

I've noticed that my games that are activated on Steam are starting fine, with no issues at all.

My Rig: (not so good these days)
  • CPU: Genuine Intel(R) CPU 2140 @ 1.60GHz
  • RAM: 2.00GB
  • OS: XP SP3
  • VGA: Nvidia 8500 GT (not sure about the memory)

Anyone able to help me with this problem?
If so... PLEASE REPLY! I CAN'T LIVE WITHOUT MY GAMES ARGGGGG!!!!

Cheers

Re: Most of my games wont start.

It might be that it's overheating. You might want to look into a new cooling system or a replacement g-card if it's the card's personal fan.

Re: Most of my games wont start.

First, it's definitely not overheating. I've already checked the temp, and even if it were, the games would not come up with an error message, or the computer will just shut down. Trust me, I've had that before.

And non-steam games don't help, seeing as the game is just made into a shortcut so the steam community can work in it. Nothing more.

But I've figured out the problem, and I am going to reformat my computer tonight. Certainly not my favorite plan, but it needs the clean out anyway.

Cheers all for the help anyway.
