How good are theese systems for games?

Hello.

I was perusing for some good gaming systems when I happened to find this one

http://cgi.ebay.com/Quad-Core-8-GB-R...3%3A1|294%3A50

It has a weak video card, an Nvidia 8300 and allthough not terrible, there are better and I was wondering how good that card will run games like Unreal Tournament 3 or FEAR 2. And I was wondering if I could upgrade or if it's integrated

Also I found this system http://cgi.ebay.com/Gaming-Multimedi...1|293:1|294:50

It has a 9600 GSO, and it's supposed to be the worst of the type of cards right? is it more powerful than an 8800 GTX?

So 8300 or 9600 GSO? what is more powerful and what are some good games they can run?

Re: How good are theese systems for games?

You've identified the systems, but you didn't identify the games. What games do you intend to play? Do you want to run these games on the highest settings?

When I helped my brother buy his computer, we used the game Crysis as a benchmark. That was last summer. There might be a few games that would be higher demanding now, but at the time, we used that as a benchmark and bought a system that could run that on hi-res.

I did say what games. Fear 2, Unreal Tournament 3, Dawn of War 2. Clive Barkers' Jerhrico. Does not matter what settings.

Sorry about that. I didn't see that part. I've played a few of these games, including Fear 2 recently. My computer is 5+ years old.

It's an Athlon 64 3400+
3 gig ram
512mb X1650 pro ATI card

I run these on medium settings and they run OK. So the system that you listed, should do OK too based on low or med settings.

But to me, when I'm playing a game, graphics and sound are everything. Just like when I'm watching movies. I have to watch everything in HD, have surround sound and my bass turned up. Imagine watching Saving Private Ryan without surround sound?

Well when you play games on low res (480x640) it's not ever worth it to me. If a system can't play the latest games in at least medium setting, then I'm wasting my money. After all, buying the latest computer should mean being able to play the latest games.

Right now, I could spend $700 on a new system (like the first one you listed) but if it can't play Crysis or Far Cry 2 at high res, then I won't bother. I'll save my money until I can get a system that can. The 2nd system you listed is much better but I'm not sure about the video card. The guys sounds like a good salesman, but I wouldn't spend $1200 on that system.

Good luck-

Re: How good are theese systems for games?

Okay also overpriced. But since I have been playing with decade old systems all my life, it's only natural that graphics aren't everything. Before I bought a new computer (These systems I listed are me asking for a friend) I could enjoy Crysis at low-med, FEAR 2 at low-med-high and be fine with it.

But if it WAS me buying a system, $700 is the MAX I would pay. You can play Crysis Warhead with a $650 system.

1650Pro is eqivilant to what Nvidia card? (I am not an ATI person)
My Nvidia 200 MX could play Half Life 2 on low and my 6200 could play almost any game. Now with a GTX 285 anything is in my sights.

Re: How good are theese systems for games?

yeah those systems are overpriced for what your getting, never ever buy premade systems or shop systems they are just bad in general usually loaded with useless programs, if you can find a wholesaler or find a wholesaler website order the parts to your place etc and put it together, if u dont know how get the parts in then go visit your local computer shop (not harvey norman etc) and have them put it together most places rarely charge more then $80 AUD a store i visit only charge $44 AUD for assembly.
But to answer your question most of those games should run on low quite well, those games are farely new so you'll probly get some frame rate drops.

Re: How good are theese systems for games?

But does everything always have to boil down to Anti-aliasing and how shiny that tank looks? I mean, Half Life 2 Episode Two, looks amasing at max, without AA or AF.
Dawn of War, I used to only play with the lowest settings, now I play max and the only difference that is noticable is the shadows.

My point is, I don't need a system that can get 4,920 FPS on super-duper-ultra-crazy- high setting. A modest system that can run any game on low-med is fine and can do anything you want. You don't even need more than 2 cores. All you people have money to waste, and don't forget the reason I was looking at those systems is because you can upgrade them for cheap. I was just wondering just how the cards will run before I upgrade.

That mobo is excellently priced!

What my current system is for?
Well for one it's for all my video editing software, and for games.
Also I run networks and servers.

But if you were asking why I am looking for a another system it's for a friend, I re-sell system in a family business.
