Spore graphics problem
Hi there,
Im new to this forum and know how a new user can get flamed in forums online for starting pointless new threads, so I decided (hopefully a wise choice) to add to this current thread. I have the same problem as above, and it happens sometimes when I play Pro Evo too. I have a quad core processor, and the ATI 4870 gfx card with Vista Ultimate 64 bit. It's all brand new and it's in a coolermaster case and the card seems fine, I recently checked my drivers and the one currently installed is from January 2009, so through device manager I did a "update Driver" and it went to a August 2008 version. After checking on Spore that it didn't change anything, I have now rolled 'back to the future' to the January 2009 version! Not sure what to do now, don't want to ruin my new card as Inimical Rize said it could do above, Thanks for any help. I have an image of what it looks like (screenshot) and have tried to attach it, hopefully it worked! otherwise please contact me Ben |

Re: Spore graphics problem
Hi, and welcome to TSF.
We're a little different at this forum - we like people to start new threads, because while issues may at first appear to be the same, they so often end up totally different. What you're getting there is an issue called artifacting, which is almost always an indication of a faulty card. Please click on "Common Game Issues" in my signature, and run through all the steps listed there. If nothing solves the problem, you'll need to get the card fixed/replaced under warranty. You can't always tell just from looking at it that a card is faulty, but damage is sometimes visible. If you take your card out and have a close look at all the solder spots, you may notice some of them have turned a yellowish colour. If that's the case, you can be sure the card is faulty. Let us know how you go.

Re: Spore graphics problem
that could be a faulty card indeed, please follow the steps above and also download ATITool open it and click on "Scan for Artifacts"
leave it for a while, this way you'll see if your card is damaged or not
