First person shooters fps problem sm1 help
Ok I built my computer a little over 2 years ago upgraded along the way here are my specs
Motherboard: Abit KN8 Sli Ram : DDR : 2gigs Cpu :AMD 3500\2.21 ghz single core VideoCard: Geforce 8600GtS Harddrive:250 gig My video card setting are set to performence as well as vertical sync off both in game on and off In counter strike I seem to spike at points I would have 180 fps and then 60 on high graphics it seems to jump around more, when low still jumps not as much but none the less jumps noticeably, Any ideas what might be the problem? And i do not have many processes running in the backround Please advise me about what might be a solution to these jumps the only way i see it is i have to Overclock witch i dont look foreword to.

Re: First person shooters fps problem sm1 help
Are you still using the original PSU from 2 years ago or have you upgraded to a more suitable one? What make/model and total watts is it?
Have you installed the latest chipset and graphics drivers? How much free hard drive space is left, and do you defrag regularly?

Re: First person shooters fps problem sm1 help
100 gigs are free of 250 i dont defrag at all the psu is new 700 watt tagan itz series installed like 3 months ago, chipset is original one that came with the disc
(maybe it would be good idea to upgrade my cpu from single core to X2)but i dont think the cpu is the issue with fps especially with counter strike source that game is not that demanding Last edited by insomniac101; 02-21-2009 at 08:50 PM. |

Re: First person shooters fps problem sm1 help
try defragging
turn on V- sync this will limit your FPS to whatever your monitor can handle if you monitor's refresh rate is 60hz then you should only be displaying 60FPS if the FPS is too highyou will see tearing and the game will running like there are too low FPS |
