Dark Messiah Might and Magic lags all of a sudden, why?

So I was happily playing my Dark Messiah Might and Magic game on the PC when all of a sudden it starts lagging dramatically, my graphics were set on mostly high except texture and GFX. It didn't lag at all when I played it yesterday but now it does, so I restarted the computer, same thing. Tried running CCleaner and SPEEDUPMYPC and then restarts, still the same thing .Even worse, lags so greatly I can't even move properly. What's going on? Have I got a virus, I got Avast and Teatimer as well.

My specs: Pentium 4
2.20GHZ(2)
2.00 GB RAM
Nvidia GeForce 8400 GS

I tried running the game on all low graphic options but still the same thing, lags. This must be some kind of other problem because the lag won't stop on low quality. How could that be?

Should I check my computer with Avast and Spybot and then restart?
(Doing Spybot check now)

have you tried re installing the game?

No because it's on Steam and the only way I can reinstall it is by deleting local files from the steam games menu and then downloading it again and installing, that will take a lot o time.

From yesterday, I ran Spybot and deleted some spyware but I don't that this was the problem, so I shutdown my computer and went to sleep. Now today I haven't tried opening the game, though I might try playing half life 2 and if it lags that means it's the problem of my computer not the game.

I've also got SpeedFan and here are the results:

It seems my graphics card is hot or so it says which I don#t quite trust programs as they can be inaccurate. So this might be the cause of the problem as it might be slowing down game processes. How should I cool it down. I heard something of canned air, I think so. Should I also dust everything out?

EDIT: I actually checked a lot of yahoo answers and most of them said that 53-75 is quite a normal temperate for cards from 6800 GS and up.

RESULTS: Half life 2 doesn't lag at all, even on all high quality set. So this must be the problem of the actual game. I've took your advice and I deleted the game from Steam, I'm downloading it again and will see if the problem is gone.

GPU normal temp is
around 50C on idle
around 70C on load

and your CPU is very cool

the only reason why the GPU has flames beside it is because the stupid program only has the safe range for CPU's

Thanks for the head ups and I always know that you can't trust a program fully.

Also, the game is back and running again in high quality. The thing I tried and thisis quite amusing is just start a new game, it must have been that that level contained some kind of bug or glitch, or as I saw a load of red lines in the "`" menu saying "couldn't create fire arrow object" something like that. Anyway thanks for the help.
