None of my games will Load!

Hello everyone,
I am having some PC trouble, as in most of my games fail to load. I can click on their icons and at first it looks like the Computer is doing something, but then it comes up with nothing. On games that are run by Steam and Gametap however, it works, but Mass Effect and Neverwinter Nights 2 however, tell me that they can not write the license data. I have no idea what could be causing these problems, although when installing off of the disc and not via Gametap or Steam, it came up with about 3 CRC errors per install, but i dont think that is a real problem since i could play these games anyway, but since last night i havent been able to.

All temporary files have been deleted, i have tried system restore, Chkdisc, Ccleaner and Malware Anti-Malware Bytes yet all of these failed to sort the problem.
What do you guys think i should do? I would be extremely grateful to anyone who can help me with this.

you said license data? mmm... try to back the date a few days ago from your PC clock, it's just a suggestion but maybe it'll work
it worked for Gears of War license when it expired on 29-01-2009

Re: None of my games will Load!

OK, sorry about that.
in down left corner of your screen, you can see a clock
double click on it and the clock should appear.
you can see the calendar there too.
just change the date, let's say 20 January, and see if that works for you.
if it's a license thing, maybe it could work.
remember it's not a solution, it's a suggestion.
good luck with that :)

Re: None of my games will Load!

Thanks again for your help, but it says the same thing as it did before and The other games that say nothing about license are no different either.

Re: None of my games will Load!

I noticed an error message of great significance to this discussion while i was playing left 4 dead, it said that the hospital map was not the same to the servers and it said this everytime i tried to play the No Mercy campaign. It has never done this to me before, so i think something is corrupting the game files of every game. I have come to the conclusion that a reinstall of all the games may work.

EEK! Re: None of my games will Load!

Ok, i uninstalled all the games that werent working and afterwards ran Ccleaner, Chkdisk and installed the drivers for the camera. After that i attempted to reinstall Fallout 3, which came up with the license error almost as soon as i put the disc in the drive. I thought this might be a problem related to the disc drive, so i cleaned it with a drive cleaning disc and the problem still persists. However, Left 4 Dead installed without any problem at all, so i intend to see if the problem still persists there.

Re: None of my games will Load!

The Left 4 Dead problem seems to have ceased and it looks like farcry 2 is having an almost perfectly clean install (free of all but one CRC), despite the fact that all games inserted into the drive fail to run at all though the setup is able to run and install. I really have no idea what can be causing this problem, please can you offer any more advice as to what i should do?

Re: None of my games will Load!

Can you do a full format of your PC and reinstall a fresh copy of Windows?
this is the ultimate solution
is should fix all of your problems, unless you have a hardware problem
can you borrow a DVD drive from one of your friends? the problem could be from your DVD drive
if that didn't work, maybe you should do a Format

Re: None of my games will Load!

Wahey ! The license data problem seems to have been solved and i found out it was caused by one of Securoms dodgy folders.. No suprise there in my opinion, but there are still games that dont use Securom and wont run. I have no idea what could be causing that problem.

Rainbow six vegas
Splinter cell double agent
Overlord
GTA Vice City

Re: None of my games will Load!

Just wondering if you have an old cd drive, securom was well known for screwing up older drives.

If you are getting CRC errors with all those titles then that looks looks like the problem, a firmware update may help.

If it doesn't help then try replacing your CD/DVD drive with a newer model.

Re: None of my games will Load!

Hello again everyone, sorry for the time it took to respond but i was on holiday. To answer all your questions at once i shall mention certain changes and things that have happened since my last post and generally respond to your posts of course.

Ive already tried to use Driver Detective but since it wasnt free i couldnt download the drivers properly, though i did perform a full scan and it did find some problems.

I dont have any emulation software running in the background, though i do have 4 virtual drives with nothing mounted on them.

The drive came with my PC - The Dell Dimension 9200, so i think it may be alright ,taking into consideration however, is the fact that it is now 3 years old (roughly since i got it in the christmas of 2006) it may be a problem but i doubt it.

Also i found out that i could not run the games via the shortcuts on the desktop or in the start menu, but i can run them in their program folders which is rather confusing as to what could be causing that problem. This does not work for all games however, as Rainbow six vegas 2 runs the autopatcher but not the actual game with either method. The game was functioning perfectly fine a few weeks ago, and i have no explanation to this at all because it came up with no errors in the installation (after i reinstalled all my games it came up with some though).

I have recently bought Deus EX which runs on CD instead of DVD and the installation worked far better than those on the DVD because it came up with no CRC errors. At first i thought this was a problem related to my disk drive, but i recently discovered that the CRC errors can apply to any online installations also.

One more thing, something seems to be corrupting the game files (or at least for Mass Effect) because previously i was able to play the game without any trouble, but now the game freezes and the sound loops after a few minutes of play and i have to end the program. This has never happened to me before, though a similar occurance happened in Overlord when at a certain point the exact same thing happened, though i had to shut down the computer (which i seem to have to do quite often due to bluescreens of death). After that one crash however, the game functioned normally.

Re: None of my games will Load!

You dont understand, i used to have emulation software but then i had to reinstall windows and format Drive C, which is the Drive that the emulation software was on. However, the virtual drives are still there for some reason (or at least i think they are virtual drives). They are called:

Removable Disk E
Removable Disk F
Removable Disk G
Removable Disk H

I dont have any virtual drive programs anymore either, so i dont know how to get rid of them.
