GeForce 8600gt very good computer still crysis lags...please help

Hi, I just bought a GeForce 8600gt graphics card and have successfully installed it and have updated to the latest graphics cards. My goal in this was to be able to play crysis on at least Medium settings. Everything seems to be working fine i DID NOT use the disk that came with my graphics card because whenever i put a disk in my drive i have to go to computer then the disk drive and manually pull out or run any files i need. Instead i used Nvidia.com and installed the latest graphics card driver from there.Anyways so when i play crysis on LOW settings it seems to run OKAY, i couldn't really say smoothly. I've looked up my graphics card and everybody says they can easily run on mid-high settings. (btw I AM AN EXTREME NOOBY AT PC GAMING i'm very good with computers, easily figured out how to install graphics card but yeah this is my first PC game besides those free online ones like combat arms.) Anways here are my computer specs

Operating System: Windows Vista Home premium (6.0 Build 6001)

Proccessor: AMD Athlon(tm) 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 6000+ (2 CPUs), ~3GHz

Memory: 3070MB RAM

DirectX version: DirectX 10

___---Display---___

Name: NVIDIA GeForce 8600 GT

Approx. Total Memory: 1395MB

Current Display Mode 1280 X 1024

Current Screen Refresh rate: 60 Hertz

(i have a widescreen 19" monitor wither max of 1440x900 resolution with 720p HD support and a bunch of other stuff)

I Believe thats all the info you should need but feel free to ask me ANY questions just remember that I'm a newbie. PLEASE help me asap i've waited forever for this graphics card to come only to be disappointed by another computer problem, also my crysis disk is absolutely SPOTLESS if your wondering no scratches whatsoever, brand new

Thanks, Brian

Hi Brian.
Load up Crysis and set all your settings to as high as they can go. Then quit out and go into ...Crysis\Bin32 (where you installed the game) and run the Benchmark_GPU file.
If you look up in the top right hand corner it should give you and average FPS.
Let it run two or three times and then let us know what you are getting.

do u have other games besides Crysis? do they run normal?
did u remove the old drivers before installing the new drivers?
download driver sweeper from my sig
uninstall the drivers and use Driver sweeper to clean the leftovers
restart the PC and then install the latest drivers

on VERY HIGH which is the highest setting there is im getting 1.5 average FPS ROFLMAO. but i've already stated that problem now i KNOW that this graphics card and my rig should EASILY be able to run medium which is can't even do that. and i don't have any other games with graphics as intense as this only low graphic games like combat arms rofl

Something is definitely wrong there.
Download GPU-Z and CoreTemp from my signature.
Use both to check your temperatures when the system is idle, then check again immediately after running Crysis for a few moments.
Post both sets of figures back here so we can check them.

Also, what Power Supply are you using? Make, model, wattage, amps on the +12v rail/s?

What was your CPU temp?
I also find it very strange that running a game as demanding as Crysis has absolutely no effect on temperature. Normally you see a 10 - 20 degree jump in temperature. How long did you let Crysis run?

What FPS do you get if you run Crysis with everything on medium at 1440*900?

Use Everest to check your voltages when idle and under load. It will be under Computer > Sensor.

Re: GeForce 8600gt very good computer still crysis lags...please help

Hey guys, while I played Crysis and Warhead I've started experimenting what graphic option caused the most lag and for me and I'm sure for a lot of people it was the shaders/shadows option, I don't know why it dramatically makes your FPS goes down like 10-20. So remove shaders and shadows if you like. I could play Crysis on all settings medium except shaders and shadows on my GeForce 8400 GS 2.20GHZ 2.00GB RAM.

Good luck!

Crysis doesnt rely as much on the processor, it relies more on the graphics card(8400gs) which is not very high end.
