age of empires 1 and 2 issue

Well i bought age of empires 1 and 2 togethor about a few days ago, but every time i try to load it up, it sais "could not initiate graphics system. Make sure that your video card and driver are compatible" apparently the screan mega pixels need to be 800-600, mine has a highest setting of 1920-1200 mega pixels, so there is nothing wrong there. I don't know what is wrong please help?

try running it in compatibility mode with win98

Have you gone through the steps listed here?
