Screen problems with DS2
I have encountered a problem with my computer that only happens with one game
Dungeon Siege 2 (I'd like to get this one working) After launching the game and getting to the main menu (even when in-game or staying at the main menu), about 20 - 40 seconds later my computer screen goes black (stays black) and I get the message pink and green box with blue text which says: Power Saving Enabled The Moniter Will Shut Down In Few Seconds (exactly like the message box which pops up when you unplug your computer screen from your computer) My computer screen is still plugged in though so I don't know what the problem is. (I can still hear the music of dungeon siege through my headphones) I've played games with much higher system requirements than Dungeon Siege 2 and do not have this problem with them, so I'm not sure why it won't work with my computer. (Some other information incase it is helpful to figuring out the cause of this) I've tried using another PC screen but I get the same results. I'm using a CRT monitor not an LCD flat screen My computer is still turned on when this happens The fan in the back of my PC is still working when this happens The small light on the turn on/off/settings button on my computer screen which shows that it is turned on blinks on and off instead of staying turned on. Any ideas on how to fix problem this would be much appreciated ![]() thanks Last edited by Elric_L; 01-28-2009 at 11:14 AM. |

Re: Screen problems with DS2
I went to Control Panel, Display, chose Settings tab and chose advanced and then chose monitor:
My screen refresh rate was set to "60 Hertz" which is the lowest I can set it. 60 Hertz 70 Hertz 72 Hertz 75 Hertz 85 Hertz I also did Control Panel, Power Options, Power Schemes Turn off monitor: (it was set at "20 minutes", I have now set it to "Never" My computer still has the same problem when I try to play Dungeon Siege 2 (I forgot to mention that when this problem occurs, I cannot get my screen to work again until turning off my computer and turning it back on/resetting) any ideas? thanks |

Re: Screen problems with DS2
Here's some updated info...
This problem only occurs with my computer when playing Dungeon Siege 2 (I'd really like to get this game working) PROBLEM: After launching the game and getting to the main menu (even when in-game or staying at the main menu), about 20 - 40 seconds later my computer screen goes black (stays black) and I get the message pink and green box with blue text which says: Power Saving Enabled The Moniter Will Shut Down In Few Seconds (exactly like the message box which pops up when you unplug your computer screen from your computer) My computer screen is still plugged in so I don't know what the problem is. (I can still hear the music of dungeon siege through my headphones) My computer is still turned on when this happens The fan in the back of my PC is still working when this happens The small light on the turn on/off/settings button on my computer screen which shows that it is turned on blinks on and off instead of staying turned on. When this problem occurs, I can't get my screen to work again until I turn off or reset my computer. I've played games with much higher system requirements than Dungeon Siege 2 and do not have this problem with them, so I'm not sure why it won't work with my computer. (This problem doesn't even occur if I have 2-3 games other than dungeon siege running all at the same time) ____________________________ Some info on computer: Windows XP Home Edition Service Pack 3 AMD Sempron(tm) Processor 2600+ 1.61 GHz, 2.00GB of RAM 2048 Megabytes Installed Memory ATI Diamond Radeon X1050 [Display adapter] Diamond Radeon X1050 Secondary [Display adapter] Realtek AC'97 Audio for VIA (R) Audio Controller I'm using a CRT monitor not an LCD flat screen (switching to different moniter types didn't fix the problem) I've updated my drivers and the problem still occurs ___________________________ Some things I've tried: 1. I use 1024 by 768 pixels (tried 16-bit and 32-bit) (Didn't fix problem) Tried 800 by 600 pixels (tried 16-bit and 32-bit) (Didn't fix problem) 2. I've tried changing my Screen Refresh Rate: 56, 60, 70, 72, 75, 85, 90, 100 (none of these fixed the problem) 3. Turn off monitor: (Set on Never) still set to never (Didn't fix problem) 4. System Standby: (Set on Never) still set to never (Didn't fix problem) 5. I've tried using another computer screen (Didn't fix problem) 6. I've scanned my computer for viruses & malware etc, nothing found so this isn't the cause 8. I've tried turning off sound in the game and setting all settings to lowest quality & highest performance. (Didn't fix problem) After all of this, I am still having the same problem

Re: Screen problems with DS2
I think I have the latest driver updates for
ATI Diamond Radeon X1050 [Display adapter] Diamond Radeon X1050 Secondary [Display adapter] I went to the main website for ATI, filled in the info for my video drivers and I was then sent here: http://game.amd.com/us-en/drivers_ca...=xp/radeonx-xp I downloaded it & updated my drivers. |
