Direct X question
Hey
I heard somewhere that playing crysis on direct X 9 was smoother than running it on Direct x 10 even with low settings. I don't play crysis but i just wondered if earlier direct x versions make PC games run smoother because the graphics arnt as good? For example if two pcs are the exact same but one has direct x 9 and the other 10 will the one with direct x 10 have better graphics but the one with direct x 9 will run smoother? |

Re: Direct X question
it's not about DirectX
it's about your PC specs you see, Directx 10 requires Windows Vista and a Video Card that supports Directx 10 (Geforce 8 and above or ATI HD 2400 and Above) but not all cards that supports Directx 10 are strong let's take for example Geforce 8400 GS it supports DirectX 10 but it's not able to run games in a playable way at least on DirectX 10 but if we take Geforce 8800 GT this card is stong enough to handle the DirectX 10 graphics but of course games running on DirectX 9 will be a bit more smoother than Directx 10 but on expanse of the looks Crysis is amazing on DirectX 10, it's so realistic you think you are watching a movie ;) and don't forget that running Crysis on Very High and on DirectX 10 will make every PC suffers like hell

Re: Direct X question
ahhh ok thanks :).
Well im running direct X 10 with a Geforce 8400 GS and i can see what you mean by not being able to run games in a playable way. So should i downgrade to Direct X 9 then? is it possible to do that? |

Re: Direct X question
if you have Windows Vista you can install directx 9 files, it'll be compatible with it
if you have XP you can't install dx10 u can only use dx9

Re: Direct X question
you can't go back
you can install directx 9 in Vista, but dx10 will be always there, dx10 always supports dx9 and don't worry about the games, cause I think setting the graphics at low won't use the dx10 technology and there are games like Bioshock, gears of War and World in Conflict where you can choose if you need to enable dx10 textures or not
