Good Computer getting bad FPS with Oblivion

My specs are
Windows 32bit
Nvidia 680i LT MotherBoard
8800gt 512
4GB of DDR 800 RAM
Intel Quad Core Processor q6600 2.4gz

My problems started when i had defective RAM that was causing all sorts of problems such as extreme crashing, It caused a corruption error and i had to take the RAM out. I replaced the RAM with 4gbs of Kingston RAM, I then went to play oblivion, before i replaced the RAM I was getting 60fps and 40 and at a minimum. But now im getting huge fps drops when in combat or when there are a alot of NPCs. Im now at the point where i mite get vista and get ride of XP, so i can use all my RAM. Iv defraged my harddrive, done a memmory dump, havent ran memtest yet cause i cant get to work. Please if you guys know and solutions or can help i would be most grateful.

Re: Good Computer getting bad FPS with Oblivion

It could be a software issue. Have you tried re-installing Oblivion, downloading the newest patch etc. Also a virus or spyware could be the problem ; is it with oblivion only? If the problem persists it might be worth reinstalling windows or upgrading to 64bit.

Re: Good Computer getting bad FPS with Oblivion

If its Vista 32-bit then only 3.2GB is used/available. Only 64-bit operating systems can use +4GB to its full potential.

The problem your having could be else where, you may of only fixed one of many problems. What PSU are you using in your system?

if there are two RAM sticks
remove one and keep the other, and then try the game

Good Computer Bad FPS

My Problem

Computer specs
Intel Quad Core 2.4gz
8800gt 512
4gb of RAM of Kingston
Nvidia 680i SLI LT Mother Board

Hello Im having a problem i while ago i switch my RAM because it caused a bunch of system erros ,so i went and started playing oblivion. What happened next has baffled me more then any else my Oblivion was getting massive lag spikes in fps and worse fps in general. So before I switch my RAM I got great fps 60fps always in caves and at a, minimum outside 40fps, it was so wierd i tryed defraging my hard drive, cleaning my registry, rolling back and updating my G card. The bad RAM i had talked about corrupted a windows file which i repaired, could that be the cause, i talked with technical assistant and he said the RAM i have is compatible so whats going on then, also fallout 3 has the same problem.
I play on Ultra High settings
no AA or AF and no V sync my resolution is 1024x768
I REALLY REALLY NEED HELP!!!!!!
ANY SUGGESTIONS WOULD BE AWSOME!!!!!
