Pin Elder Scrolls IV Oblivion G.O.T.Y.E. disc 2 error

I am trying to install disc 2 of Oblivion. Except during the Install Shield load it gets this error about 1/16 of the bar.

Error Code: -5006 : 0x80070571
Error Information:
>SetupDLL\SetupDLL.cpp (1194)
PAPP:Oblivion - Shivering Isles/Knights of the Nine
PVENDOR:Bethesda Softworks (##ID_STRING1##)
PGUID:FB245B3C-2A18-4EF9-89DC-667DC70052D9
$11.0.0.28844
@Windows XP Service Pack 3 (2600) BT_OTHER 42708.30543

I currently have the 1st disc in and can run the game without the expansion sets knights and shivering isles.

In case you need my computer specs I'll provide my rig's details. I'll provide a dxdiag.txt.DxDiag.txt

I've tried many things I've noticed from older posts. Like switching the file name of the install shield folder, safe mode, installing directly form the setup.exe , also clearing temporary folders, also attempted to try and update install shield but i am having some difficulties not understanding how to. Never noticed anyone else using S.P.3. though hopefully that isn't the issue.

I will attempt installing it on another computer soon just to see if the disc is not the problem.

Any ideas are welcome and appreciated thank you.

Hi lumberjack.
0x80070571 usually means the disc is corrupt (just Google it and you'll see). However, test it in another machine first, just to check.
Make sure the disc isn't scratched or dirty at all.

If you can't get that to work, try copying the contents of the disc to a folder on your desktop and install from there.
If you still get problems I would take it back and get and exchange.

Re: Elder Scrolls IV Oblivion G.O.T.Y.E. disc 2 error

Thanks, for the fast reply, yes the discs are like brand spanking new but dirty or scratched I might find myself going back to walmart for a trade in for another copy. Hopefully this one will work, I have been having alot of bad luck with a few games.

My assassin's creed was missing a file but like every copy in the store was missing them... so i had to take a file type of the same and rename it what was missing and ignore the file when it couldn't recognize it. But without the file i wouldn't continue. Also have has the same issue with COD4 and Quake wars. Just bad luck i suppose. Wish we had a gamestop in town. Sry for going off topic.

Re: Elder Scrolls IV Oblivion G.O.T.Y.E. disc 2 error

Sadly, I installed Oblivion disc 2 at my pc-tech computer that i am on. The disc worked fine but this computer can not actually run the game thats for sure. So sadly that might actually rule out the disc being faulty. But i have tried lots of options. Any help would be appreciated.

I wasn't saying that, i just currently have been having bad luck buying games lately they all have been giving me problems. It's a simple allusion in my text.

As for my Dvd drives they should be good, I just recently burned out my dvd R/Rw burner and replaced is with another one. As for the other drive it's quite old i got i back in 2004 with the computer, but so far it's been the more reliable of the 2.

I'd also like to add in my idea, of maybe loading the disc onto a file from the pc-tech computer on to my thumb drive then bring it home and attempt to install using files that might be more accurately read from that drive.

Did you try copying the contents of the disc to your computer and installing from there?

Yes, but it didn't change a thing. I am gonna try and take the entire installed folder on the other computer at school with a thumb drive. It actually installed there. I will try and install it as if it were a mod by checking it on the data menu.
