Help running COD5 on my XPS Please!

i have an xps m1530. got it in october so its not 5 months old. When i try to play cod5 everything installs and runs fine but when i get into gameplays, its like lagging as if it would in online play. i move the cross hairs and they have badd cursor lag, and everythings in slow motion. the xps as far as i understand is a performance gaming computer so i dont know what wrong. please help!

The M1530 uses an nvidia 8600, which is an average mid-range graphics card. It can handle CoD4, but might struggle with CoD5 on anything above low graphics settings.

Customer comment: Should the score change considering the GPU failure rate on this laptop and infact all laptops fitted with 8000 series gfx cards?

Have you installed the latest chipset and graphics drivers, MS updates and DirectX?

Are you using a laptop cooling pad?

Check the temperatures in BIOS and during fullscreen gameplay.

i turned down the graphics to like 600 something x 400 something and its now working to the point were i can play it, but its still lagging every once and a while and i have to let it sit or try to move around to get it back. ive never been into pc gaming but am now force to due to the fact that i go to a military school that were not allowed anything but a computer. is a cooling pad something i should deff look into? im looking for some good parts to put into my computer for gaming now that i am going to do it very often, so any help would be greatly appreciated.
