COD4 lag

Ok...first, here are my computer's specs.

Windows Vista home Premium 64 bit.
Ram-4.00 GB
Processor-Dual core 3.0 Gh
Video Card-NVIDIA GeForce 9500 GS

If it means anything, the windows experience index of the computer is 5.4.

So COD4 was running great, no lag whatsoever. Perfect. The only trouble was that the fan on the video card rattled. Had been for some time. I just ignored it as everything else worked fine.

I got tired of the rattle, so I took the card out, took the fan off, messes with it, and then put it back in.

In short, when I try to play the game, it lags. It lags quie a bit. Other games that played fine also now lag.

I am a bit lost and have no idea what do to. Any ideas?

Re: COD4 lag

Hi Mydralll and welcome to TSF,

Please ensure that you did not disconnect the 2pin fan plug in your graphics card. It sounds like the card is overheating. Do you hear the fan spinning?

Hi.
Download GPU-Z from my signature.
Run it when your computer is idle and go to the sensors tab.
Check what your GPU temperature is, then run a game for a few minutes and check it again.
Post both figures back here so we can check them.
