Not sure about the FPS drop exactly, but Its possible that your system just isn't powerful enough to run WOTLK at that high a FPS. WOTLK seems to take better hardware than WoW did before, and when I run wow on older computers, even with pretty decent CPU's and GPU's I also see the FPS drop very low.
I think its the CPU that may be causing the biggest part of your low FPS. Not sure what CPU you have exactly, please post more information about it , IE: Intel Pentinum 4 2.0Ghz, or AMD Athlon 2.0GHz. |

Are you using wireless? If so then you could be losing packets. If you are not using wireless and are wired but also have wireless capability then be sure to disable whichever you are not using so that your computer does not get confused on which has priority. What kind of virus program do you use? Don't say Norton. LiveUpdate silently runs in the background and tends to clash with vista often. FPS loss normally has to do with your vid card settings. Be sure that you are using the recommended for each specific game that you play. Also remember that vista does not fully support a lot of the games and software out without patches/updates. Have you recently updated your vid card drivers? If so try rolling back and see if that helps. Also even though you have 2g ram vista will only use about 1.53 of that towards gaming. I would suggest at least 3g ram for new gen games and also to support the vid card that you have. Buy a 1gig usb stick for readyboost. What type of monitor are you using?

@sunneyDeyz
your're wrong about Vista using around 1.5 gigs of ram for gaming, The max I've seen it use on my system was around 1.1 gigs for Crysis on Very High with 8x AA. it really depends on the game itself but you're right on everything else there its a laptop SunnyDeyz @Zuja try this driver http://www.nvidia.com/object/geforce...9.28_beta.html its the same driver for the 8600m GT and 8600m GS if you want a better anti virus you can try NOD32, but please tell us what anti virus you're using don't game wirelessly always plug directly into the router, the performance gain is very noticeable |
