Re: COD2 will not run

Do you have any disc emulation software installed or maybe other programs running in your system tray? (near the clock as icons)

Be sure to close all programs before you try to install the game. If you have been running your computer for days, give it a restart and try installing the game again.

Re: COD2 will not run

I can browse the disk. I have no programs running. Only icons are time, volume, hp health center icon. I will close it and restart then reinstall. I do get to the page menu that asks to play thats when i get the error msg. I get right back! Thanks for the input.

Please post the error message you get (a screenshot will do). It will help identify the problem.

Have you tried patching it to 1.3 yet?

Do you have more than 1 disc drive?
Are you able to run the Multiplayer .exe at all? It shouldn't require a disc.

Did you put the disc in lable side up? Just kidding, but make sure you run the installer as an administrator. The installer may be trying to do something that requires administrative privelages.

Re: COD2 will not run

Installed the patch before, sorry I didnt post that. I have a sceond drive but need to install it first. I will try that also. Tried with the label down also, didnt work (LOL), I have tried as administrator, and I thought about the problem of inserting the correct disk but it does say to insert disk 1 after 6 has installed, it comes up to the main screen to play single/multi and thats when it gives me the error. I will try to play multi. if that works, does it mean my disk1 play file is faulty? I feel like that is the prob. If it is, I wonder if activision would allow a copy of the file for excuting??

Re: COD2 will not run

What is the condition of the first disc? A scratch may be affecting the file(s) that are needed on disc one at the very end of the install process and not the rest of the data. Some companies will send you a replacement copy of the disc if you can prove that you bought it, sometimes for free, other times at a reduced price.

This is the error I got while trying to start the multi player version.
This also happened once during a reinstall and trying to run single player.
No scratches on the disc.

Roll Eyes Re: COD2 will not run

Why would this multiplayer file be executed if single player was my objective? I still cant figure it out.

AF3, they contend that they are perfect and you have to take it back to the store you bought it from.

Re: COD2 will not run

I changed the target to bypass the 1st screenshot and it works! Here is what I typed in:

"C:\Program Files\Activision\Call of Duty 2\cod2sp_s.exe" +set com_introplayed 1

I hope this helps others. It is only for single player. I havent had time to try MP. I will when I get some more play time!!

Thanks for all your help. It steered me to try this.
