Cry [SOLVED] Problems Starting up BF2142

Hey, i recently bought a copy of BF2142 Deluxe edition for my system. I installed it and started playing and it worked fine, but then gradually it took longer for the dvd to be read in my drive and now it won't even read it.

It comes up with this error when i try to start 2142: BF2142 Deluxe DVD/CD not inserted.
It took a while to start up but now the dvd doesn't even read it in my drive... I go to my computer and my DVD drive shows no BF2142 dvd in the drive!!

System Specifications:

Processor: Intel Pentium 4 3.0 GHz
Video Card: Nvidia MSI GeForce 6600GT 128 MB
Memory: 512 MB RAM
Cd Drive: SONY CD-ROM CDU5212
Dvd Drive: HL-DT-ST DVD-RAM GSA-H55N
Audio: Intergrated Realtek Sound card
Network Adapter: Intel(R) PRO/100 VE Network Connection

I am guessing it's my DVD drive.

It's a LG Securdisc DVD drive, Product ID: GSA-H55N

Help!!!

Re: Problems Starting up BF2142

hello, when you insert your DVD, can you browse it? if not then it's not reading it at all, try another DVD to see if the drive can read it, if it didn't also read it, then you need to buy a new DVD drive

Re: Problems Starting up BF2142

Wow... I inserted my Dawn of war DVD which runs fine on it usually and now it didn't read it. When i went to my computer, the system froze for a few seconds, my computer didn't respond so i had to close it, then my desktop dissapeared including my mouse, icons, start menu as if explorer.exe was disabled..

I think something is up.

Re: Problems Starting up BF2142

WOW, reseating did the trick! Both games start up instantly.

I got to ask though, how does reconnecting cables and wires actually have a effect on the performance of a piece of hardware? Cause when i disconnected the cables, they didn't feel loose, they were in good.

Re: Problems Starting up BF2142

it works cause there could be a power lag or failure to the DVD drive, it also happens to the HDDs
glad it worked for you, please mark this thread as solved under thread tools
