Re: promlem while playing gta4

Hi israeliviper and welcome to TSF,

Many people are have the same or similar issue, there is an apparent memory leak in the game in which unused game data is not emptied from the RAM. So after a while your RAM becomes full and GTA starts using your pagefile on your HDD. This pagefile is like Virtual RAM however it is very slow.

Some people have a quick fix by getting applications that free up RAM.
But i recommend if you can afford it is go out and buy some extra RAM. An extra 1GB will go a long way. The price for 1GB of DDR2 RAM is now around $20-$50

But please check first what type of RAM your Motherboard can support and how much it can support.

Another issue could be that your PC is overheating. GTA is very dependent on the CPU and GPU, usually maxing them both out. Download Everest from my sig and check your temps when GTA starts to lag. Post what you find.
