[SOLVED] Command and Conquer 3 - menus missing

Hey, i remember playing this game when it came out, tried popping it in, same system and such. gets to the main menu, the outline for all the buttons are there and its fully functional ( i can cllick through the menus) but all the text is missing

this is true for all menus in the game (options, video calibration, in-game)

i tried uninstalling, re installing to try missing txt files, nope.
tried running in xp mode. nope. causes and issue.
tried a bunch of other compatibilty options. nope.
tried lowering resolution of my screen. nope.
downloaded patches...did it work. nope.

im so at a lost. any help greatly appreciated

system specs: (from best memory)
os: vista home premium 32 bit
processor: core 2 quad cpu @ 2.40
ram, 3gbs
video: nvideo geforce 8800gt @ 512 mb gddr3

I remember having the same problem ages ago with a different game but can't recall how I fixed it.
Have you tried uninstalling your graphics drivers and installing the latest ones?

Got any programs running in the background?

tried regular uninstall update driver in device manager, im going to next restart and try in safe mode.
as for other programs, i am running dual display, but i deactivated it, tried single screen, even lower resolution, no dice.
closed all background things, its just...difficult

well its working, thank you.

after doing a restart and driver updat, it is working successfully.

Ah, cool. I though it might just be drivers, I had the same problem with Unreal Tournament.
