GRAW 2

I've been having a hell of a time with GRAW 2 on my system. I can't even get it to run period. I keep getting a notification that it's not responding in the task manager. The read me file advises no to install the game in windows or directly into the C drive root whatever the heck that means. Well I installed it into the program files: games directory. I insert the CD and I can't get it to run. I keep getting the same thing over and over again. Not too sure if there's a specific area where the game should be installed and run from. I can't even run the game as an administrator.

Re: GRAW Crash

I wouldn't install any game in the program files directory sine the security set on it high and is a little bit wonky

I always install my games in separate folder called Games.

Re: GRAW 2

I had the game installed in the program files for games before and it would run fine. Perhaps choosing a more specific directory would be better. Also I am unable to run the game as an Administrator. How do I find the proper folder to install the game? Should I just create one on the desktop? That would probably be the best option. I had no problems playing Crysis Warhead when it's in the program files directory so why can't I run GRAW 2 the same way. I'm gonna try and reinstall the game in a created folder instead and re-run it.

Thanks

Re: GRAW 2

I just made a new Folder like this

C:\Games\

thats it just create a new folder

you just have to make sure every time you install a new game you put it in there. I find it a lot easier seeing how much space my games take up.

Right now I have 156gbs of games
Cal of Duty 4
Oblivion
Fallout 3
Bionic Commando Rearmed
Devil May Cry 4
Grid
Soldiers: Heroes of WW2
Need for Speed Undercover
Crysis Warhead
Spore
Red Alert 3
Hoyle Puzzle Games 2008
Sid Miers: Pirates
Mass Effect
Mount & Blade
Bully Scholarship Edition
GTA 4
Starcraft
Half life 2
Half life 2 episode 1
Half life 2 Episode 2
Team fortress 2
Portal
Left 4 Dead
The Witcher Enhanced Version
Faces Of War
Far Cry 2
Brothers in Arms: Hells Highway
Price of Persia (newest one)
Raibow Six Vegas 2

Re: GRAW 2

Well I degragged the hard drive last night and even updated the drivers and I still can't get the game to run. I'm beginning to run out of options. It doesn't seem to be the game instllation perhaps the drive running the game. I think I'll try to install it on the second drive instead. There's nothing else on it.

change the security settings for game's folder
right click on folder
properties
security
edit
change the settings to full control

right click on the game's .exe
properties
compatibility
run as XP SP2 (try running earlier compatibilities too ex: win 98, win 2000, etc)
run as administrator

Re: GRAW 2

Thanks for the advice. I will try that. Meanwhile I got some other games from a buddy at work to play while I am on Holidays. CnC Red Alert 3 and some others. My Wife also gave me Dead Space and Left 4 Dead as an early gift. Can't wait to play as well as My Crysis Warhead. I'm going to try the Folder options for GRAW 2. Wish me luck..

Re: GRAW 2

Well no luck with changing the fodler settings for the game. I tried setting it to adminstrator and I even tried setting it for previous windows versions. No luck. I had no problems when I had my system set with Vista before I went to RAID 0. Perhaps it's having a problem with it. Perhaps a conflict has occurred which is preventing it from running properly because Red Alert 3 and left 4 dead work perfectly as well as Dead Space. Even Crysis works better than it did before. All these games work perfectly so I will keep GRAW 2 and perhaps if I reformat and reset the disks to run parallel in a normal IEDE storage set up it'll work then. For now GRAW 2 is on the shelf until such time as though I decide to reformat and reinstall.

Re: GRAW 2

even a reformat might not help, that's just a hassle for 1 game.

well even if you don't play GRAW 2, and it is a good game there are a bunch of games that are better.

maybe you try re installing the game and run the setup.exe as administrator under XP SP2

Re: GRAW 2

Yeah I hear Ya. I'm gonna keep it anyway and try it the next time I reformat my system. I downloaded the Tweek guide so I can keep my system up to date with fixes and administrative diagnostics. I have all the latest drivers for video and for sound and actually last night when I was playing Left 4 Dead it got pretty freaky....good game with lots of realistic audio.....the Zombies are pretty animated and unlike say Resident Evil, the really cool aspect of the gameplay is that the Zombies come after you pretty seriously...no fooling around. Dead Space seems more tactile and puzzle like which is good for me as well and well cnc code red 3 is just awesome and plays excellent on my system with nothing but flying colours...very impressive graphics all on the highest settings. Thanks for the great input.

Re: GRAW 2

yea I've been playing Left 4 dead too Awesome awesome! versus mode really puts you on your toes.

My friend has Dead space and I've only played a little bit but I found it awesome when you shot the monster's legs off and they still came after me.

Have you played fallout 3?
its got 3 major things I really like
huge immersive RPG
slow motion heads blowing off
consequences to your action (blow up a town with a nuclear bomb, or not)

Re: GRAW 2

Haven't played Fallout 3 yet. I'm gonna get The Witcher, Enhanced Version from my wife for Christmas so that should be enjoyable. I love the RPG but have really fallen for the FPS genre.

Re: GRAW 2

well Fallout 3 isnot really a first person shooter exactly it falls into the very small category of RPG/THird/First/awesome slow motion exploding people where the only body parts you can find are the eyeballs genre

I played The Witcher (it had a lot of issues) but from what I've heard the Witcher enhanced version has it all fixed.

I liked the witcher so much I bought the english translation of a the book the witcher is based off of.

Re: GRAW 2

Sounds Like a very playable game. I was having problems yesterday Morning after I updated the Creative Drivers for my system. All of a sudden all of the services in the system config menu were disabled and the system was very slow, I mean molasses slow. I started the necessary services up and now she's quick again. Then I got all excited and thought I would get brave again and reinstall GRAW 2.....no luck. Then afterwards I was getting a funny reading on my memory....like half a gig of memory was missing....only showing 3258mb or something like that...not sure why becasue Vista shows the full 4 gigs.

Anyway I think It'll be the Witcher today at the Mall with all the crazy's out there whihch will be fun since there's like over a foot of snow all over the place and Toronto isn't exactly people friendly during the Holiday Season as sad as it may seem.

Re: GRAW 2

yea man Ottawa hasn't been faring any better than Toronto!

I think we just got around 30 - 40cm this week

yea and we have a stupid bus strike which started right before my girlfriend's and sister's exam started. its been almost 2 weeks without buses.

Well if its any consolation, I don't know if you've looked in the rest in PC gaming threads but a lot of people are having problems with GRAW 2. It's like someone else said, " they stopped production for the game at 90%"

Re: GRAW 2

Yeah when I read threads like those I don't feel so bad about the whole thing like there's something Ièm doing wrong or something or I'm just some computer novice with my head up my you-know-what. GRAW 2 is a good game and I look forward to playing it the next time I reformat and start over with my system. It may work better then.

Yeah Toronto is brutal but I think Ottawa my be worse in my opinion. You guys get it pretty friggin bad every year even when we get it mild. We'll have to wait and see what this Winter is like.
