Thumbs Up Help regarding choosing a gaming pc.

Hey,
Im concedering purchising a new pc, mainly for gaming but im really confused on the specs. I dont understand it all and I was wonderin if this pc would do justice to games like call of duty 4 and WoW.

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/DUAL-CORE-PC-G...1%7C240%3A1318

Is this worth gettin to play these type of games.

Also any recomendations are apreciated, bearing in mind I am only willing to spend around £200-£300 ($300 - $450)

Many thanks in advance
MaxCH

Re: Help regarding choosing a gaming pc.

Not really the best deal, here's why:
'NVIDIA GeForce 6150'
Integrated graphics have terrible performance, they are not designed for running games. Most games don't even support them.

So, if you were to get that computer, you would need to spend at least another £75 - £100 for a graphics card.

It also doesn't mention anything about the power supply, so you may need to upgrade that too.

Re: Help regarding choosing a gaming pc.

Hi MaxCH,

Gaming PC's are the same as everything else, you get what you pay for.
Personally I'd steer clear of that system as I doubt it'll have great performance when it comes to games mainly because of the on board graphics.
If you want to be able to play any recent games at a half decent level a dedicated graphics card is a must.

A decent gaming pc will always cost you quite a bit more than a console, I think you're going to have to make too much of a compromise on that budget.
There's a good guide here on building a £400 gaming rig here, even if you're not confident on building a machine yourself it'll help you decide what you should be looking for.

Remember a large case with big fans is important, big fans are a lot quieter so the noise won't be such a problem. A dedicated graphics card, even an older model like an nvidia 8800GT, is essential.

Re: Help regarding choosing a gaming pc.

if u want to get a decent V-card and don't want to brake the budget u can get a Geforce 8600GT, check this http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814130085

this a DDR3 version and it's great for games and it costs below 70$

you will be able to play the latest games but not on the highest options!!
Good luck with that :)
