Online Games lagging horribly all of a sudden - help please, log included

Hi,

For the past few days, all online games I've tried to play are horribly laggy and unplayable - there's a 10-20 second lag between when I input a command and when it registers on screen. I thought it was only on Atlantica Online, but when I tried other games the connection issues persist (and are almost identical)
Everything worked fine until a few days ago.

-The internet still works fine, as does Aim, google talk, flash games, etc
-A network game of Red Alert 3 worked fine, but one over the internet did not

Also, a few days before this lag started occurring, I ran ad-aware and it said I had some sort of trojan or something. I removed it, scanned again, and nothing came up. A Symantec antivirus scan then also reported no attacks.

a networked game doesn't not use your bandwidth so it has nothing to do with playing online

maybe port forwarding the game will
your internet speed is most likely faster than mine or your closer to their servers. I choose option A and B so yo have around 6 mb/s internet speed I guess

can you give me your router exact name and brand

add the application to your firewall if it isn't added already

I don't think I'm actually behind a router - I plug directly into a wall jack, and the only network listed in "Network Connections" is Local Area Connection...

The only firewall I use is Windows Firewall; I added games I've tried as exceptions and have tried turning off the firewall with no success.

Is it possible that removing a trojan caused some sort of issue? It sounds unlikely but I dunno...

do you have msn and aim runnig in the background while your playing?

yes i keep AIM and Gtalk in the background, but that's never interfered before. I booted up my laptop and plugged into a different jack and it experienced the same problem. So yeah i think it's the connection :(

of course you have slowdowns turn off AIM and gtalk and you'll notice a huge difference on the speed of online play
