playing halo without disc in????

ok so get this all of a sudden my pc started letting me play my halo:combat evolved game without putting the disc in. whats up with that?? can anyone tell me exactly what is going on?? im not complaining i dont have to worry about losing my disc again.....THANK GOD!!!!(i have done that one too many times) just wondering why its letting me play without disc all of a sudden.

are you talking about Halo Custom Edition? If so, then its because the 1.0.8.616 patch took the CD check away.

i used a no-cd update maybe u did and forgot lol

no it isn't custom edition. i have had this game for like two or three years and it has never done this to me. i mean im not complaining, but it is just creepy. the only difference other than before is that it started letting me do this after i joined and downloaded x-fire. you guys think it is because of x-fire or is it just something else???? i haven't downloaded any updates i don't think unless x-fire got it for me while i wasn't looking.
