Warcraft 3 TFT lagproblem with Vista.

Hi everybody.

As the title say, I got some problem with Warcraftlag.
I had no problem with installation (as many others seem to have problem with),no, I have LAG, yea lag.
I know that Wc3 is not "Vista Certified", so I tried to run the game in compability mode, XP SP2, but it still lags.

If I lower the resolution (like 800*600 32bit colors) in Wc3 the lag disappear but still, I don't wanna play such an old game with a even more badlooking graphic, I wanna play with the resolution of 1280*1024.

No other game, like World of Warcraft, is lagging.

In Windows I got the resolution 1440*900
I'm running Vista Home Basic, 32bit.

I can't say im running a bad computer, my specs are following:
CPU: AMD Athlon 64 X2 5200+. 2.7GHz dual core
Motherboard: ASUS M2A-VM HDMI
RAM: Kingston 3GB 800Mhz (3 1gig)

Got a powersupply on 500w
The graphic card is integrated on the motherboard, 256MB.

I don't think im the only one with this problem, seen many asking for help on other forums, though no answer.
Perhaps some of you guys have an answer for me.

Thanks in advance

Re: Warcraft 3 TFT lagproblem with Vista.

Sorry, didn't catch you.

The videocard is integrated if that was what you meant :o

Got some information about it:

Integrated ATI Radeon X1250-based graphics
Maximum shared memory of 256 MB
Supports HDMI Technology with HDCP compliant with max. resolution 1920 x 1080p
(It may not display 1080p smoothly when playing HD DVD and Blu-ray Disc due to current version player limit)
Supports YPbPr component TV-out with max. resolutions 1280 x 720p and 1920 x 1080i
Supports DVI-D with max. resolution 2560x1600 (@ 60Hz)
Supports RGB with max. resolution 2048 x 1536 (@85Hz)

No idea if that was you wanted, but cheers!

Re: Warcraft 3 TFT lagproblem with Vista.

what graphic settings do you have warcraft 3 on? maybe anti aliasng is on or something?

your X1250 integrated graphics card can play Oblivion but on low settings. So it might be something you overlooked like vertical sync or something that's on

Re: Warcraft 3 TFT lagproblem with Vista.

I use the highest graphical settings, but with lag of course.
How can I see if it have anti-aliasing? Use the same resolution in Windows as in Wc3?

Random question:
If I use compability XP SP2, will it give me less lag as if I go with no compability mode?

God, I used XP just some days ago and everything was lagless.

Re: Warcraft 3 TFT lagproblem with Vista.

Sorry for posting right after my other.

But I just want to say: Thanks Mcninjaguy!
I had no idea what anti-aliasing was so I googled it and then I saw it was on, on my Graphical Driver

Wc3 is working fine now in the resolution 1152*864, got some lag but you don't notice that while playing.

Big thanks again Mcninjaguy!

your welcome sorry I just come in and say a couple things and I'm not too specific.

there's anti aliasing (gets rid of distortion)

http://www.fractalus.com/info/antialias.htm

antistropic filtering (enhances image quality)

Re: Warcraft 3 TFT lagproblem with Vista.

No problems, you could not know that I'm not to good at computers

But if I want it 100% lagless, is it a new videocard I should buy?
And sorry for asking so much but, can you recomend me a PCI-e card thats good enough for some newer games?

Re: Warcraft 3 TFT lagproblem with Vista.

yea since your video is integrated into motherboard almost anything you buy will be better

if you could post the name of your motherboard and PSU
you can use this software to find the name of your motherboard and stuff if you don't know it off hand

Re: Warcraft 3 TFT lagproblem with Vista.

Oh, I knew integrated wasn't to good, but not that bad

Name of my motherboard is: Asus M2A-VM HDMI

And I got a power supply on 500w.

I googled my mainboard, and it seem to not be the best one, more negative then positive about it

Re: Warcraft 3 TFT lagproblem with Vista.

I would say your integrated is on par with a 6000 series nvidia card say the 6600gt

a 500w PSU do you know which brand and model?

I can list a couple PSU's that will be good for your computer they will be a far leap in quality from your current integrated card in quality

This XFX 9600 will improve your graphics tenfold ($80 after rebate
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814150320
--------------or the ATI equivalent----------------
Sapphire 3650 ($62)
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814102725

both of these cards card should meet your Power supply requirements.

if your will to buy a new PSU too you could get a 9800 graphics or the ATI eqvalant
but that means spending more cash and if you don't really want to play the new games then there's no need
