The Sims 2 - error

Hi Guys i was wondering if u could give me a hand with a strange error i am getting.

I have installed TS2 on a laptop that has VISTA as its operating system, the game installs, then it plays just fine. The prob comes in when you want to play again the next day. I click on the icon but instead of starting i get an an error message saying unspecified data?.

In order to play again i have 2 unisnstall the game and reinstall it, it then works fine but the error keeps coming up the next time i want to use it?

Any ideas?.

Do you just have sims 2 or are there expansion packs that you have?
