Call of Duty 1. installing help?!
hey.
my name is ben. and ive been having alot of trouble with Call of Duty 1 and trying to install it. Ive had this game since last christmas and it worked perfect til about summer. First, i try to install it again, and it says its already installed. so i try to uninstall it, and it says, "you can only uninstall programs that are already installed." So i dont know whats wrong with it. I searched My Computer for the folder and tried to just delete the whole thing, and it says its "write-protected". Which i have no idea what that means. So please, if anyone knows how i might could fix this problem, tell me asap. Last edited by B-E-N_chub_92; 11-10-2008 at 04:40 PM. Reason: changed title |

Re: hey. please help!
First of all, you should uninstall games with add/remove programs in control panel, not by removing the files. Second, why do you want to install the game if its already installed?
If however the installation is corrupted and uninstallation doesnt work, you can remove the write protection by selecting the game folder, pressing right mousebutton, selecting properties and unticking the read-only box. Doing above may not do the trick, as the game installation program still probably thinks the game is already installed. To remove game's registry entries press start-button, select run, type "regedit", go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE->Software->Activision and remove call of duty folder located there. Hope it helps.
