[SOLVED] Game meets system requirements... runs at 2 FPS... literally
Hey Im new to the tech support forum and I actually joined to post this since it seems like Ive tried everything I could research within the last 4 friggin hours so any help will be much appreciated.
So today I bought Brothers in Arms:Hells Highway for my roommates new Zt computer since I just got mono and Im gonna be out of commission for a while and Ive got a macbook which aint gonna satisfy my need to kill some germans. It installed fine and starts up without any errors, but right after the ubisoft and gearbox logo clips in the beginning (which look fine) it starts to run the main menu (which has a close up of a guy touchin his face and some troops and vehicles in the back) at about 2 frames per second but the music and audio are just fine. Also the mouse cursor responds way late and jumps round with the 2 frames per second so I use the arrow keys which also have a delay, and this doesnt change at all with the gameplay (and the audio still works fine with the dialogue spacing itself out to stay in sync with the visuals). Im lyin in my bed now, away from the PC, with my mac about to pass out but Ill give you the details I can remember. I ran system requirements lab http://www.systemrequirementslab.com/referrer/srtest and it said that the game should run very well and the PC met or exceeded all of the requirements(Ill list the specs below). Specs (from what I remember)- Windows XP pro w/ SP3 NVIDIA GeForce 7050 / nforce 610i Intel core2 duo 2.63GHz / quad DVD (or something like that) 3 GB RAM I cant remember everything but I will stress that according to system requirements lab it should have ran great and I did not expect to have a problem like this at all. Heres what Ive tried (and some have made a miniscule difference in the FPS, but nothing to get excited about)- -Changing the screen resolution on both the game and PC with nearly every different combination (maybe getting 4 fps on 800x600) -Setting the details, shadows, shadow textures, vt etc. to all the different (high-low, on/off) settings (except gamma which Ill try tom). -Restarting the computer (several times) and running system restore -Uninstalling the game and re installing it -ran the directx test and it was up to date (9.0c) -closed all programs running in the background -Got a driver detective and made sure all drivers were up to date. -checked cd for scratches and cleaned it -messed around with alot of the settings but restored them to default (hopefully) -Ran virus scan and destroyed any threats -Paced around the room, prayed, cursed, meditated, and made bad spaghetti. Thats all I can remember for now and Im pretty tired and sick, so Ill post all the official stats tom If asked for or no one has a resolution. Cheers, Connan |

i dont believe your card can handle the game

Re: Game meets system requirements... runs at 2 FPS... literally
I just downloaded and played the demo for Portal which according to system requirements lab met the minimum requirements only and it ran way better than brothers in arms which met the minimum and recommended requirements. Also when I made changes to the resolution, lowered the graphics, shadow detail, etc in Portal it made major performance differences, and when I did this in brothers in arms it made a barely noticeable difference between the 1280x1024 and 800x600.
Any other Ideas? |

I don't know what System Requirements Lab is telling you but it's wrong. The 7050 is onboard graphics. Whilst it is better than most onboard soloutions they are rarely even able to run games.
Here is a link where they benchmark the 7050 with and without a dedicated graphics card. Have a look at the difference in framerates. I'm actually surprised you got Portal working, but I guess the Source engine does scale down very well. Solution. Get a better graphics card. |
