Hello, I recently reformated my HP computer with windows XP SP2 and reinstalled as many drivers as I could get my hands on. Everything is running up to par now except for my video card, its the same card I had before the format, But now It cant play World of warcraft on all its Max settings, it has to sit on all the lowest settings in order to play at all reasonably.
My vid card is the following. NVIDIA GeForce 7600 GS. I updated all the drivers for it directly from the site as well. Any tips? I was thinking maybe If I take it out and then re instal the hardware it may register again or somthing. But Im not all that computer literate. so meh :S |

Re: World Of Warcraft Graphic Settings Weaker...
I got a 7600GS too, and when I was playing it, it was on full settings. I dont think it's the card. Maybe an older set of drivers? I know the drivers have been updated since I played WoW so when I was playing it was with older drivers.

Re: World Of Warcraft Graphic Settings Weaker...
The drivers I had downloaded were the latest directly from the Video card's Home page. The link bellow. :(
http://www.nvidia.com/object/winxp_178.24_whql.html So far thats kind of left me thinking either my Integrated Video card is working over my Nvidia one. Or its motherboard drivers that are not letting it work properly, but upon looking up Drivers for my mother board, which is a K8VGA-M Biostar motherboard. It doesnt look like there have been any that I can see, I dont even know if I need to reinstal mother board drivers after a reformat. Meh. So yeah, any great ideas are much appreciated |

Re: World Of Warcraft Graphic Settings Weaker...
After formatting your OS drive, you do need to reinstall all the drivers, yeah.
If your motherboard has an integrated video card you should take a look in the bios. Find a toggle so Windows can't use it. http://www.biostar-usa.com/mbdownloa...?model=K8VGA-M <-- Only thing on that page that you should have installed is the chipset driver. Unless you also use the onboard audio, of course. One more thing you can try: Hit run on your start menu -> type dxdiag -> click the display tab and that should hopefully tell you all you need to know. Edit: I don't see how any of it really applies to bad fps in WoW, but I guess you go on what you have. Edit 2: Addendum: Try another game. If it plays how it should, it's more likely a driver bug than anything else.

Re: World Of Warcraft Graphic Settings Weaker...
Hi,
I'm the one with the same graphics card as you. My DirectX screen shot looks very similar to your except for the area I marked. It seems my driver is older than yours. Maybe this can help, maybe not, but try my version of the Nvidia driver if you can. Good luck. |

Re: World Of Warcraft Graphic Settings Weaker...
Yes. Definitely make sure your Motherboard drivers are installed.
Your graphics drivers may have simply not installed properly. Try using a program like DriverCleaner to uninstall you current Nvidia drivers, then reinstall them. Also, is it just WOW that you have to play on low, or are your other games (if you have any) suffering in performance too? |

Re: World Of Warcraft Graphic Settings Weaker...
The chipset drivers should be - here.
Did you uninstall and reinstall your Nvidia drivers (you don't need Drivercleaner, just go to Add/Remove Programs and remove them)? It may simply be a case of corrupt drivers. |
