doom 3 compatibility

I got a new computer with vista installed. I was able to use doom 3
for a month then something happened and now I can't use it.
it will not load other games except civilization 3.
I would like to know if others have had this problem and a
possible solution.

Please try to be more specific. Is there any kind of error message? The game enters and just quits?

yes, it loads and says doom 3 has stopped working.

other games won't work as well except civ3 which works
fine.

obviously something I did or was updated to my computer change
some parameter that affects certain programs.

Make sure Vista is fully updated, turn off all Anti-Virus/Firewalls.

Try updating your graphics drivers to the latest version.

I had the latest updated on vista. I turned off my firewall and anti-virus

and tried to upgrade my graphics driver. but it said I had the latest anyway.

I wish I knew what is going on with my system.

Try patching the game up to 1.3. Most game patches fix compatibility issues with Vista.
