Re: Oblivion GOTY freezes
Hi.
Ok. To start with 58 °C is fairly high if that is idle temps. I'd look at cleaning it out with a can of compressed air or something. Secondly. Is this your Laptop? If so, you only have a 7300 Go graphics card. Not only is this card not properly supported by Oblivion (not on the list of supported hardware), it is incredibly weak and barely able to play the game. Look here for a benchmark of graphics cards done with Oblivion. If you scroll down to the very bottom you will see the 7300 GS only gets 4.8 FPS on a low resolution with no anti aliasing. The 7300 GS is a little more powerful than the 7300 Go. In short, even if you can get it to run, it will hardly be playable. More like a slide show... |

Re: Oblivion GOTY freezes
Well that should work...
Do you have any media controllers like infra-red remote sensors or gamepads connected? I have heard of issues with them freezing the game. If so, unplug them, then try running Oblivion. When the title screen loads up, does it immediately freeze or only after you click on something. Have you tried re-installing? It may be a corrupt file. |

Re: Oblivion GOTY freezes
I know this will sound like an odd thing to do, but uninstall every single codec, sound & video driver from your laptop. Make sure there's absolutely no trace of them left on your laptop. Restart your PC. Install the newest sound & video drivers. Restart. Download & install the newest Xvid & AC3 codecs. Restart. Try playing again.
This is the common solution. Oblivion is very touchy with audio drivers and codecs, if it has the slightest incompatibility it will just hard lock. |
