Fraps lag.

When I frapsing with 1650 x 1050 resolution the fps is going down between 15 - 30 fps, im using fullscreen because otherwise the quality gets to bad with halfscreen. And I recording to another harddrive so that isn't the problem. Is it possible to fraps with 1650 x 1050 resolution with fullscreen to get the best quality?

My specc:
AMD 4000+ 2,1ghz.
2gig 800mhz DDR2.
Powercolor HD2600 XT 256mb.
Hitatchi 160gb HDD (IDE).

Every answer is appreciated.

fraps is not that good, it would randomly give me a big fps lag spike for like 10 secs without me doing anything, and it would happen several times per hour, but i dont know if it is good for recording
